Senior Living Center Plans for Site in Town and Country

A report said plans for development in a vacant space neighboring Mason Woods Village are coming down the pipe in Town and Country.

Plans for Allegro Senior Living Center are making their way through channels for approval in Town and Country, according to a report from West Newsmagazine.

The development would neighbor Mason Woods Village, a shopping center at Clayton and Mason Roads, and residential areas on three sides, West reports. The current site, which was formerly a Shell gas station and is known as the Wirth property, includes 8.81 acres and the existing Mason Woods Village center.

West added information from Town and Country Planning Director Sharon Rothmel, who said the developer has plans to build Allegro Senior Living Center with enough capacity to house 150 living units.

The report said the development, proposed zoning changes and a site plan could appear before Town and Country's Planning and Zoning Commission by late July. While most of the property is zoned residential, with the exception of Mason Woods Village's commercial classification, the report said the developer is requesting a new zoning type called planned commercial and assisted living facilities.

West also included thoughts from nearby residents who were not supportive of the potential development.
