I was born Kimberly Dawn Raile, the only child of the world's best parents, Sid & Madeline Raile,  48 years ago on December 11, 1962  in Wichita, Kansas. At age 9, I was unceremoniously yanked from 4th grade and deposited in Columbia, Missouri, where my dad became a State Farm Insurance claims rep.  In 1972, he became a State Farm agent, we moved to St. Louis. I graduated from Lindbergh High School in 1981 (Go Flyers!) went off to Mizzou (Go Tigers!) and earned a dual bachelor's degree in journalism and history in 1985.  I moved to Brentwood and shortly thereafter,  I was hired by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and spent six years working in the promotions and public relations department.  In 1988 I foolishly agreed to a blind date with a man who lived all the way out in West County near Ries Road and Big Bend; two years later I married him, and in January of 1993, I went to work part-time for my dad and spent the next 17 years raising my family and using my incredible journalistic talents to write exciting things like grocery lists and commenting on my childrens' progress reports. Fast-forward to 2011;  my three wonderful children are well on their way to having their own success stories, Mark and I just celebrated our 20th anniversary and I finally have time to pay attention once again to this wonderful community known as Manchester. I have been a resident of Manchester for 19 years, have gone through the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and Citizens Police Academy programs, and recently joined the Homecoming Committee.  I am a devoted fan of the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department (can't wait for the pool to open and to hear the first concert at our brand new amphitheatre!) and regularly attend the board of alderman meetings. I believe that our police department is second to none; our community is thriving and that great strides have been taken in these last few months to further our city's progress.  I look forward to sharing my thoughts about our hometown of Manchester and of hearing your thoughts as well.
