Fire crews were called to West County Center Friday morning for a vehicle fire that was put out without incident.
UPDATED: 11:40 a.m.- If you saw fire crews at West County Center just after 10 a.m. Friday, the mall was not on fire. According to the Des Peres Fire Department, crews were called for a vehicle fire in the parking garage near Interstate 270 and Manchester Roads. Witnesses tell Patch, the fire created quite a bit of smoke, but fire crews now tell Patch the fire was put out without incident and the fire was contained to the car, despite construction taking place in the garage. "It took a little bit longer to get the car our because of the repairs going on," Des Peres Fire Marshal Sean Quinn tells Patch. Quinn said the mall's water supply was also being worked on so crews had to use a ladder truck to supply water put out the fire. "Nothing …
The Des Peres Board of Aldermen reportedly approved a contract to design a monument and landscaping near West County Shopping Center.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Des Peres Board of Aldermen approved the contract last week to design the monument and landscaping at the southewest corner of Manchester and Ballas roads near West County Shopping Center. The article states that the original landscaping placed in that area did not achieve the "desired results," so this new design will focus on creating more of a "park-like" look. According to the Post, the contract for the design was approved for up to $58,500 and will be paid for with funds that the city reserved as part of the Manchester/Ballas Tax Increment Financing District for West County Center. More than 100 people participated in a flash mob over the weekend to remind shoppers at West County Center of the religious significance of Christmas. Jennie Marino and two friends were behind the event that took place Saturday. "I had seen a video done by a professional group of singers and thought it was a great idea.
