A teacher is being accused of sexually touching a 10-year-old student during a home school session in Lake Saint Louis. Joseph T. Maddock, who also worked for a number of West St. Louis County school districts, was charged Monday in St. Charles County with first-degree statutory sodomy. Lake Saint Louis Police said Maddock, 34, of the first block of Cedar Bluff in Lake Saint Louis, met the boy and his parents while he was teaching at another school. Police reported he convinced the boy’s parents to teach the boy in a home-school environment. Maddock had been teaching at the boy’s Lake Saint Louis home five days a week during the school year. There is no limit on the amount of documents you can bring for disposal, but paper must be free of metal clips and paperclips. The Secret Service is not yet officially involved in an investigation, but has advice for worried St. Louis County consumers.
Authorities from jurisdictions around the St. Louis area are confirming reports in recent days that Schnucks, the Maryland Heights-based grocery chain, may have had its credit card collection system compromised, making consumers vulnerable to identity theft. Creve Coeur Police and the St. Louis County Police are some of the agencies which have taken reports. The St. Louis County Wildwood Precinct posted an alert on its Facebook page Wednesday stating the department has taken numerous reports for fraudulent use of a credit device. Although the flu is on everyone’s minds this season, the winter vomiting bug, or the norovirus, is making its rounds. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that the norovirus causes about 70,000 hospitalizations and 800 deaths each year, mostly in young children and the elderly. Some of the virus' common symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pains. The CDC points out that the norovirus is often referred to as thestomach flu, but it is unrelated to influenza. According to St. Louis County Health Department Spokesman John Shelton, there are eight outbreaks of the norovirus in the St. Louis County area.
