Manchester Seeking Federal Grant For Henry Avenue Road Improvements

The city is applying for a grant to fund approximately 80 percent of the Henry Avenue road improvement plan estimated to cost $712,500.

The City of Manchester will apply for approximately $570,000 in federal grant money to improve Henry Avenue. Aldermen gave City Engineer Ed Blattner the go-ahead to apply for an East-West Gateway federal grant for the improvement project this week. The cities of Manchester and Ballwin are both working to make improvements to the road, including stormwater, street overlay and adding ADA compliant sidewalks. However, the two cities are now applying for grant money separately, Blattner tells Patch. Henry Avenue Project, $118K Plus in Road Repairs Before Manchester Aldermen

Monday, the Manchester Board of Aldermen will discuss the new Scotty's Fresh Produce, spending more than $118,000 on street repairs and likely vote on applying for a grant for the Henry Avenue project. View the full agenda here.

The Manchester Board of Aldermen is set to meet Monday night.  (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.)  Among items on the agenda, aldermen are set to discuss spending more than $118,694 on repairs to Glan Tai and Big Bend Woods roads. They will also hear from the owner of Scotty's Fresh Produce Market and Deli who just opened a second location in Manchester. As previously reported by Patch, Scotty's owner Mark Sgroi opened the store this month. New Neighborhood, Henry Avenue Road Repairs Could be 2013 Reality

The Manchester Board of Aldermen voted to work with Ballwin on Henry Avenue repairs, plus a new subdivision is moving forward near Parkway South High School.

The majority of the road runs through Ballwin with an approximate 62/38 percent split, according to Manchester City Engineer Ed Blattner. Road Construction, Federal Funding Possible For Manchester's Henry Avenue

The cities of Manchester and Ballwin could apply for federal funding for improvements to Henry Avenue.

The cities of Manchester and Ballwin may soon work together on a Henry Avenue road construction project. (Follow Patch on Facebook for updates- check out our page and "Like" it here.) Monday, Manchester aldermen discussed applying for a grant, in conjunction with the City of Ballwin, for improvements to Henry Avenue. The approximate 11,300 feet of the road, which is a little over 2 miles, runs between Clayton and Manchester roads. The street runs through both Manchester and Ballwin. However, Manchester City Engineer Ed Blattner said the majority of the road is located in Ballwin with an approximate 62/38 percent split. Driver Hits Historic Manchester Building

A driver was arrested after crashing into a historic building in Manchester and damaging it to the point it was deemed unsafe.

A Manchester photography studio and insurance office are open for business again after a car hit the building at the intersection of Manchester Road and Henry Avenue. According the Manchester Police Department, officers got the call around 1:45 a.m., Dec. 24. Manchester Police Captain Chuck Hunn tells Town and Country-Manchester Patch that a woman driving a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant struck the building at 14394/14390 Manchester Road which housed Kowal Photography and Kirn Insurance. Hunn said initially the woman veered of the road and hit the building with the right front of her car, but the impact caused extensive damage to the car and the building. "It totaled the car," Hunn said. "The building had to be boarded up and the city engineer …
