Teacher Sexually Touched Home-Schooled Student, Police Say

Police said Joseph T. Maddock taught at several schools in St. Louis County since 2001. He's now being accused of sexually touching a 10-year-old student.

A teacher is being accused of sexually touching a 10-year-old student during a home school session in Lake Saint Louis. Joseph T. Maddock, who also worked for a number of West St. Louis County school districts, was charged Monday in St. Charles County with first-degree statutory sodomy. Lake Saint Louis Police said Maddock, 34, of the first block of Cedar Bluff in Lake Saint Louis, met the boy and his parents while he was teaching at another school. Police reported he convinced the boy’s parents to teach the boy in a home-school environment. Maddock had been teaching at the boy’s Lake Saint Louis home five days a week during the school year. YMCA Names Parkway Central Grad as 'Youth of The Year'

The YMCA of Greater St. Louis recognized Jordan Deitering of Chesterfield as the 2013 Joseph P. Sunnen Youth of the Year, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the YMCA of Greater St. Louis named Jordan Deitering, 17, of Chesterfield, as the 2013 Joseph P. Sunnen Youth of the Year. According to the Post's article, Deitering was surprised to receive the award, but said she worked hard to reach such an accomplishment. Deitering reportedly volunteered at the YMCA and is now a part-time employee there. The Lindenwood University freshman also graduated from Parkway Central High School in 2012, according to the Post-Dispatch. Deitering received her award earlier this month. Parkway Sixth-Graders Explore The Outdoors

Parkway South Middle School students headed out Monday to participate on a 24/7 environmental experience.

On Monday, approximately 98 Parkway South Middle School sixth-graders left the commodities of the city for a one-week environmental experience in Potosi, MO. Every year, all Parkway schools: Central Middle, Northeast Middle, South Middle, Southwest Middle and West Middle School, take sixth-graders on a field trip as part of their science curriculum. Monday, it was Parkway South’s turn to take students out in the open. The core focus of the program is to teach students about environmental conservation in order to better understand their science curriculum, according to camp coordinators. At the camp, located at YMCA of the Ozarks in Camp Lakewood, students learn how to preserve the soil and develop outdoor skills such as fire making, …
