Westminster Basketball Coaches Step Down

Westminster Christian Academy coaches David Klyn and Steve Stipanovich are both leaving their coaching positions with the school, according to Athletic Director Todd Zell.

According to school staff, Westminster basketball coaches David Klyn and Steve Stipanovich both decided to leave their coaching positions with the school. Parents were alerted to the decisions in an email sent out by Westminster Athletic Director Todd Zell around 9 a.m. Monday. Zell said both men decided to step down from the coaching positions to "pursue the next chapter of their lives." Following is the email sent to parents Monday. Westminster Christian Academy Names New Head of School

Tom Stoner will serve as Westminster Christian Academy's new head of school beginning in the 2013-2014 school year.

Town and Country's Westminster Christian Academy announced Wednesday that Tom Stoner will serve as the new head of school beginning in the 2013-2014 school year. Stoner will replace current Head of School Jim Marsh.  As previously reported by Patch, Marsh served as Westminster's head of school for 28 years and is leaving that position after this school year. Westminster released the following details as part of a news release Wednesday. Westminster's Penning Takes Extra Steps To Propel Volleyball Career

The senior will play volleyball in college at Pepperdine.

You can't teach height, as the saying goes. Mitch Penning, a standout senior on the Westminster Christian Academy Volleyball team had the height thing down. But in recent years, he knew that he didn't know enough about flexibility and weight training. That was until he met Tracy Fober. Fober, a strength coach and physical therapist, is the owner of Iron Maven Physical Health & Performance and has a workout space in the light industrial district just outside Creve Coeur. Fober works with prep athletes looking to maximize potential and to build a foundation for the future, as well as older athletes looking to work through years of chronic use and injury. The NBC late night talk show will feature music from the band Night Beds

Fans of late night television or St. Louis music talents may want to adjust schedules or set a DVR. Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (11:35p.m./NBC/KSDK) will feature the music of Night Beds, including Westminster Christian Academy graduates Caleb Hickman and Taylor DeRosa. Both graduated in 2008 when the school was located in Creve Coeur. Other guests on the show include Jason Schwartzman and Keri Russell.

Westminster's Sadie Stipanovich Enters the Coveted 1,000 Point Club

The center, headed to Saint Louis U. fired in 24; Westminster crushed Burroughs, 65-27.

Scoring 1,000 points in a basketball career is a remarkable achievement. With 7:22 left in the Westminster Christian Academy game with John Burroughs Friday night, senior Sadie Stipanovich of the host Wildcats netted that coveted last two points. The crowd behind the Cats bench roared with approval. Every single girl on the bench knew exactly when the moment would happen. Stipanovich is the first Metro Conference player to reach the 1,000 point plateau since Delaney Hobbs did it for MICDS two winters ago. Hobbs is a student at Wake Forest University. Fifth-Annual Prepcasts Elite Shootout January 5

The all-day event moves from CBC to DeSmet this year. Parkway South and Westminster are both participating.

The high-flying St. Joe Angels basketball team will highlight the Prepcast Elite V basketball shootout January 5 at DeSmet. Previous shootouts have been held at CBC.
