The Election Authority anticipates little voter fraud, thanks to poll training and systems put in place.
With the 2012 federal and state general election just a little more than a week away, the topic of voter fraud is not only on voters' minds but on minds of the St. Louis County Board of Election members, too. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Republican Director of the St. Louis County Election Board Gary Fuhr said that the training and preparation has been thorough and extensive for this election cycle. “Everyone gets specific training for the role they will have at the polling place,” he said. “We're trying to give as much hands-on training as possible.” Fuhr said that 5,000 people will work as poll workers Nov. 6, and people in roles ranging from supervisor to poll captains and technicians have gotten step…

Some inquiring minds among Patch readers want to know exactly where U.S. Republican Senator candidate Todd Akin cast his vote after he edged out two others for the Republican slot.
Given the interest in primary elections Tuesday evening, some Patch readers already are asking a historically notable question: Where did U.S. Senate candidate and Wildwood resident Todd Akin physically vote? [See reader comment in linked article] The inquiry about Akin's voting poll location comes due to questions raised during March 2011 about his official residency—which reportedly was Wildwood since 2009—compared to a second home located in Town & Country where voting records indicated he had been voting. (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.) St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Akin cast a ballot in Town & Country 10 times after he and his wife, Lulli, purchased the Wildwood home at the end of 2007…

A bond issue that is expected to result in steady increases in many St. Louisans' sewer bills won approval from voters Tuesday, according to unofficial election results.
Sewer bills are expected to rise gradually for many St. Louis residents with the passage of Proposition Y on Tuesday. The $945 million bond issue passed with 85 percent of the vote in St. Louis County with all precincts reporting, according to unofficial election results. Fifteen percent of county voters rejected the measure. In St. Louis city, approximately 87 percent of voters approved the measure, while 13 percent rejected it with 99 percent of precincts reporting. That comes out to nearly 63,000 votes in favor of the measure (85 percent) St. Louis-wide and roughly 11,000 against it (15 percent). As a result, the sewer bill for the average single family served by the Metropolitan Sewer District of St. Louis (MSD) is expected to rise …

A June 5 vote is planned in St. Louis county and city on Proposition Y, along with eight charter amendments aimed at increasing the efficiency and transparency of the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District.
People living in the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD) can't change the fact that their sewer bills are going to rise incrementally over the next several years, Ed Rhode said. What they can control is the rate at which that change happens. That's why Rhode and Mike Kelley—members of the pro-Proposition Y committee Clean Water STL—are encouraging residents of St. Louis County and St. Louis city to vote yes on the $945 million bond issue June 5. MSD gave a presentation to Manchester aldermen in June, 2011 about the pending rate hike. (Read Previous Story: Sewer Rate Increase, City Audit, Arts Council Top Aldermen Meeting) In November, 2011 the City of Manchester voted to send notice to MSD that it does not support the rake hike. It…
