Holiday Package Shipping Deadlines for Christmas 2012

Want those cards and packages to arrive in time for Christmas? Find out the drop-dead dates from the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx and UPS.

If you want Santa Claus to arrive on time with holiday packages to military, international or U.S. destinations, the U.S. Postal Service has announced the dates those packages must be in the mail. USPS Stamp Out Hunger Is Today

Leave your unopened non-perishable items next to their mailbox before their letter carriers deliver the mail.

Nearly one in eight people of all ages struggle with hunger in the bi-state region. Across the country, the number of Americans living in food insecure homes in 2011 was nearly 49 million - 16 million of these were children, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s annual study measuring food security in the United States. Last year, the Stamp Out Hunger food drive collected 243,635 pounds of food in St. Louis city and county alone. Nationwide, generous Americans donated 70.2 million pounds of food in 2011, which marked the eighth consecutive year that at least 70 million pounds of food were collected. Local Post Offices Survive as USPS Reviews Branches for Closure

The US Postal Service announced it will consider closing thousands of branches. Town and Country and Manchester post offices will survive the possible closures.

In a move designed to streamline operations and save money, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will review more than 3,600 branches nationwide to decide which ones to close. The Town and Country and Manchester post offices in Town and Country - Manchester Patch are not on the list of branches under review that the USPS released Tuesday. St. Louis branches under review: A spokeswoman for the USPS in St. Louis told Patch the study covers retail (branches) only, and stressed that delivery is not under review. “Customers have shown us that they no longer need a brick-and-mortar post office,” Valerie Hughes, USPS spokeswoman, said.
