Parkway Superintendent Rides School Buses With Students

In preparation for National School Bus Safety Week, Parkway Superintendent Keith Marty rode school buses with students as they headed to class this week.

The following information was provided in a news release by the Parkway School District. Superintendent Dr. Keith Marty rode Parkway buses this morning (Oct, 18) to celebrate National School Bus Safety Week, which takes place Oct. 22-Oct. 26, 2012.  “It’s a great time to ride with drivers to show support and to encourage continued safe driving,” he says. Will Rosa, transportation director, and Dr. Marty also demonstrated how to evacuate buses safely from the rear. Parkway's transportation department has an outstanding record in student safety and service. Parkway's Top Administrators Earn More Than Rockwood

A St. Louis Post-Dispatch feature enables readers to search public educators’ salaries.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch released an online database feature for readers to search through the salaries of all public education employees in Missouri. The feature shows the five top administrators of the Parkway School District earn more than the Rockwood School District’s top five, with the exception of the districts' two superintendents. Parkway’s top five paid administrators: Rockwood’s top five paid administrators: NOTE: Both Keith Marty and Bruce Borchers received raises effective July 1 with the 2012-13 school year. Marty's salary is now $227,000. Borchers is $234,600, with a 2 percent increase he received effective with this school year. Keith Marty is a week into his second year at the helm of the Parkway School District. We asked about everything from last year's growing pains with bell times to the new technology plan that could impact each district school after Thanksgiving.

Parkway Schools Call to Extend Superintendent Contract 4th Year

The board of education is expected to extend Keith Marty's work contract through June 2015, at Wednesday public board meeting, 7:30pm.

After one year at the helm, Parkway School District Superintendent Keith Marty is expected to have his work contract extended beyond his initial 3-year contract in a consent vote Wednesday night by his bosses—the Parkway board of education. Board President Beth Feldman is poised to recommend "...that the board of education approve the extension of the Superintendent's employment for an additional one-year period commencing on the 1st day of July 2014 though and including the 30th day of June 2015," according to the meeting's agenda posted on the district website.  The district's new fiscal year begins July 1. Feldman was re-elected in April to the school board, and assumed the board presidency shortly after that. Parkway School District's new superintendent is settling into his new role. Keith Marty took over the reins officially on July 11, though he's been visiting the district regularly since his hire was announced in January. So far, he's been meeting staff and preparing for the new school year, which begins in about a month. Not much has surprised him, though he said he appreciates the kindness and support of the staff and the community thus far. One of the biggest adjustments, Marty said, is getting used to the size of the district. Marty was most recently the superintendent of Menomonee Falls School District in suburban Milwaukee, a district with about 4,500 students. Parkway is about four times that size. Parkway Superintendent Recognized with Contributions to Fund

Parkway School District's Interim Superintendent Don Senti's last school board meeting was Wednesday.

His time with Parkway School District may be almost over, but school board members and Parkway staff are hoping his legacy lives on. Don Senti, who has served for the last year as interim superintendent for the district, will officially step down this summer. The district's new superintendent, Keith Marty, begins the job July 1.  To honor Senti's contributions to the district, the school board and staff are encouraging donations to the Parkway Alumni Association. Specifically, they're asking contributions be made to the association's Al Burr Educators Make A Difference Fund. The fund rewards outstanding teachers in the district with cash stipends. New Parkway Superintendent Focused on Relationships, Strategic Planning

Keith Marty said he hopes to get to know people throughout the district and begin implementing Project Parkway plans.

When Parkway School District was in the midst of a months-long superintendent search, parents, teachers and other community members said they wanted a leader that is focused on student achievement, has an inspiring vision and possesses strong communication skills. The district thinks it has found that leader in Keith Marty. Parkway School Board President Bruce Major said the district was seeking a “transformational leader” with a personal touch. “(Marty) excels in the one-on-one,” Major said, adding that he is also a strong mentor. Parkway Names New Superintendent

The Parkway School District named Keith Marty as its new superintendent Monday.

UPDATED: 2:25 p.m. Tuesday- The Parkway Board of Education named Keith Marty as the district’s next superintendent Monday. Marty will replace Don Senti, who has served as interim superintendent since June 30, beginning July 1. The search and decision comes after Superintendent Robert Malito retired last summer after starting as Parkway's superintendent in July of 2004. According to the Parkway School District, Marty comes to Parkway after serving as superintendent of the Menomonee Falls School District in Milwaukee for the last 10 years and the assistant superintendent for the district from 1989 to 2001. There are roughly 4,500 students in that district. About 17,500 students attend Parkway schools. Parkway school officials said Marty is …

Parkway to Offer Tuition-Free Full Day Kindergarten For 2011-2012 School Year

The Parkway School Board voted Wednesday night to offer full-day, tuition-free kindergarten beginning this fall.

The Parkway School Board voted 6:0 Wednesday night in favor of full-day, tuition- free kindergarten beginning the 2011-2012 school year. Board member Helen Casteel was absent. A crowd of about 100, including all Parkway elementary school principals and assistant principals, applauded the decision, many gave a standing ovation. "When you look at the national trend, there's no question that Parkway needs to go this direction," board director Sam Sciortino said. Currently, the Parkway School District offers full-day kindergarten for $3,520, the change will offer it to all kindergartners at no charge. There are 28 full-day and 40 half-day kindergarten classes within the district's 18 elementary schools at this time.
