Senior PGA Championship: What You Need to Know

As the 2013 Senior PGA Championship officially gets underway Thursday, here's what you need to know if you live nearby or plan to attend the event at Bellerive Country Club.

As previously reported by Patch, the Senior PGA Championship takes place at Bellerive Country Club in Town and Country May 21 - 26.  (Check here for event schedule and hours.) The first round of the competition gets underway Thursday. Ladue Road is closed from Mason Road to Highway 141 during the tournament. Spectator parking is based at the Verizon Amphitheater and shuttled to the course.  Here's what not to bring: • Personal electronics such as, hand-held games, radios, televisions, iPods, iPads, etc. • All oversized chairs with wide arm rests (small, portable/folding chairs are permitted). • Bags larger than 12” x 12” x 12” in their natural state. • Weapons of any kind (regardless of permit). • Coolers, ladders, milk crates, signs, …

Senior PGA Championship Means Road Closures And No Parking Zones

The City of Town and Country provided the following traffic plan for residents as the 2013 Senior PGA Championship gets underway this week.

As previously reported by Patch, the Senior PGA Championship takes place at Bellerive Country Club in Town and Country May 21 - 26. Ladue Road will be closed from Mason Road to Highway 141 during the tournament. Spectator parking will be based at the Verizon Amphitheater and shuttled to the course.  The City of Town and Country is reminding residents to be aware and prepare for the road closures this week. Residents can find more details on what to expect this week in the following traffic plan issued by the city. Strict Admission Policy at Bellerive For Senior PGA Championship

Here's what you need to know if you plan to attend this week's Senior PGA Championship in Town and Country. KSDK reports spectators will need more than just their ticket to come and go as they please.

According to KSDK.com, once you've entered the Senior PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club and your ticket is scanned, you will not be able to use your ticket again to enter the event. If you plan to leave and then return to Bellerive, you must get a security stamp on your hand at one of the spectator entrance gates and you will only be able to return if you have that hand stamp and your original ticket, KSDK reports. More Lighting Planned For The Principia Athletic Field

Additional lighting will be set up on The Principia soccer field this summer. It's expected to benefit the school's athletics program, but not intrude on residents.

Town and Country aldermen recently approved allowing additional lighting to be set up on the soccer fields at The Principia. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) School officials explained that the lighting will allow the school to host tournaments and improve the quality of practice time, including allowing student athletes to practice at night when summer heat warnings are issued during the daylight hours. The lights will also allow night games which will school staff said will improve fan attendance because games will be held when more people can attend. The new lights will sit on 50-foot stands and there will be visors around the edges of the actual lights to prevent them from shining away from the field. …

Westminster Basketball Coaches Step Down

Westminster Christian Academy coaches David Klyn and Steve Stipanovich are both leaving their coaching positions with the school, according to Athletic Director Todd Zell.

According to school staff, Westminster basketball coaches David Klyn and Steve Stipanovich both decided to leave their coaching positions with the school. Parents were alerted to the decisions in an email sent out by Westminster Athletic Director Todd Zell around 9 a.m. Monday. Zell said both men decided to step down from the coaching positions to "pursue the next chapter of their lives." Following is the email sent to parents Monday. Parkway West Soccer Team Earns Academic Award

The Parkway West High's boys’ varsity soccer team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) High School Team Academic Award.

The following information was provided by the Parkway School District in a news release. Parkway West High's boys’ varsity soccer team earned the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) High School Team Academic Award at the 2012 national convention in Indianapolis, Ind.  A total of 366 high school teams (143 boys, 223 girls) throughout the United States earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team, during the 2011-12 academic year. To qualify for the award, the high school team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 for the entire school year.  The Parkway West boys’ soccer team earned a 3.34 grade point average.
