Court's Ruling Could Impact Town and Country Solar Panel Ordinance

Town and Country is waiting on a Clarkson Valley solar panel lawsuit ruling before putting a city ordinance in place. The ruling could impact how cities regulate solar energy.

The proposal for a city solar panel ordinance was continued indefinitely at Monday night's Town and Country Board of Aldermen meeting. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) The proposal has been continued since early October. Mayor Jon Dalton said Monday the reason for the delay is because there is a lawsuit still pending in a Clarkson Valley case that involves a city solar panel ordinance. As previously reported by Patch, the City of Town and Country is considering an ordinance that would put guidelines in place for residents who want to install solar energy systems.  The proposed plan would allow resident's to install two types of solar panels, roof mounted and ground. Longview Parking Construction Grant in The Works

Town and Country aldermen continued a solar panel vote Monday night, but gave the city the OK to apply for a Longview Farm parking project construction grant.

Monday night, Town and Country aldermen did not vote on on a proposed solar panel ordinance for the city. It was continued and could be voted on at the next meeting on Oct. 22. Town and Country is considering putting a solar panel ordinance in place, but some are concerned the current plan makes the process to difficult for homeowners looking to go green.

Parkway Kicks Off Solar Panel Program

A ceremony marked the beginning of the installation process of solar panels for the Parkway School District.

A ribbon cutting ceremony marked the beginning of the Parkway School District's solar panel installation program. As previously reported by Patch, Parkway is installing 33 buildings with solar panels. The process is expected to be complete sometime in January. According to the Parkway School District, this is the largest school solar project in the state of Missouri. (For instant updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Tuesday's ceremony was held at Barretts Elementary School in Manchester, which will be the first school to receive the panels. Parkway Installs First Solar Panel Tuesday

The Parkway School District's first of 33 solar panels goes in Tuesday at Barretts Elementary School in Manchester.

According to the Parkway School District, this is the first and largest school solar project in the state of Missouri. (For instant updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) As previously reported by Patch, Parkway is intalling 33 buildings with solar panels and the installation process is expected to take four to six months. Barretts Elementary School is the first school to receive the panels Tuesday morning. Parkway is leasing the solar energy, or photovoltaic system, from Brightergy Solar Solutions for $72,300 a year, over 20 years. The panels will generate energy for electricity, according to the district. Monday will likely be a busy Town and Country Board of Aldermen meeting.  (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.)   New School A vote could come on the proposal for a for the new Raintree Learning Community to be built at 2000 to 2016 Amonte Drive. Despite a handful of residents speaking out against the project, the Town and Country Planning and Zoning Commission approved the preliminary development plan for the new school on Mason Road near Manchester Road. Now the plan is before aldermen.
