Monday night's Town and Country Board of Aldermen meeting began with a moment of silence in honor of Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who was shot Saturday at a political event. It was a packed house and agenda Monday night, but it was a resolution to censure Alderman David Karney that received an emotional response from family members of fellow alderman Fred Meyland-Smith. Unfortunately, small towns do not have the breath of laws to handle all situations. If it is not a State Law or in the Revised Missouri Statutes, prosecutors are hamstrung in pursuit of convictions for real criminal conduct. It is too bad a set of model City laws is not available for all cities to adopt, especially an ethics law with teeth. Alderman Karney should resign for his outrageous conduct. more ›
