UPDATED: 7:55 p.m.- A heavy load of snow and ice from Thursday's winter storm has canceled school in the West and Central St. Louis County area for another day. Fox2 News will be helping Patch keep you informed of any cancellations for Friday by adding them to the list below, which will be updated throughout the day. UPDATED: 4:20 p.m. Thursday- With winter weather continuing throughout the day Thursday, several area locations are closing early, canceling programs or staying closed for the day. West County Center closed at 2 p.m. Thursday due to the weather. Nordstrom and jcpenney are also closed. Operating hours for Friday, February 22, 2013 are also under review. Parkway schools are closed Thursday due to the weather, but local police say things have been pretty quiet.
The Parkway School District closed school Thursday due to the inclement weather. Both Town and Country and Manchester police departments said Thursday morning that calls had been pretty quiet overnight. Neither department reported an increase in accidents due to the snow and ice that fell Wednesday night into Thursday morning. They said most drivers apparently stayed off the roads at that time. Both said despite ice covered cars Thursday morning, drivers are not having many problems on the roads. Crews were out treating roads as the snow and ice began falling Wednesday night. The West County and EMS Fire Protection District is receiving an increase in calls for falls due to the ice. Click here to read article on snow removal in both cities.
