Scam Costs Manchester Cashier $150

Manchester police are investigating a scam at a local business that left one cashier $150 short. Authorities found the same person pulled off a similar scam in Chesterfield.

The following information was supplied by the Manchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made. March 10: 100 block Highlands Boulevard Drive Stealing: A cashier reported falling victim to a scam that resulted in the loss of $150. The scam was reportedly conducted at the cash register and after further investigation, police discovered a similar incident in Chesterfield by the same suspect. Investigators have reviewed photos of the suspect. Detectives are conducting further investigation. Police Warn of Green Dot Prepaid Debit Card Scam

Town and Country police sent out an alert after several residents reported receiving phone calls involving Green Dot prepaid debit cards.

Town and Country police are warning residents to beware of a scam involving the popular Green Dot prepaid debit and credit cards. An email alert was sent out after police said several residents received calls involving the prepaid cards. "Green Dot reloadable debit cards are the latest weapon for crooks working a well known type of grant scam," the email alert from police stated. Police Warn Residents Scammers May be Lurking Along Manchester Road

Manchester and Town and Country police want residents to be on alert and call 911 after a woman was recently approached in a business parking lot along Manchester Road.

The following information was supplied by theManchester and Town and Country Police Departments. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made.   Police are warning residents to be on alert for scam artists targeting shoppers along Manchester Road. According to the Town and Country and Manchester police departments, a resident was in a retail business parking lot along Manchester Road during the evening when a female in her 20s approached her. A crime alert sent out by both departments stated that the woman claimed she needed gas money to get to her mother's house in Cape Girardeau. Police Warn of Publishers Clearing House Scam

Town and Country police are warning residents to be wary of calls about alleged Publishers Clearing House winnings. Authorities say it may be a scam and they advise residents not to give out information.

The following information was supplied by the Town and Country Police Department. Town and Country police sent out an email alert stating that investigators recently responded to a call regarding a possible fraud case.   According to police, a resident received a phone call on the afternoon of Oct. 19 from a man who told her that she had won $250,000 from Publishers Clearing House and the check would be delivered on Oct. 20. The caller reportedly asked the woman for her address and gave a call back number with an 876 area code, the email alert stated. Crime Alert: Watch for Home Alarm System Scam

Manchester police say a homeowner received a call from person posing as an alarm company representative, but the caller was seeking personal information.

According to police, the resident who lives in the 700 block of Le Manns Drive received a call on Oct. 3 from someone trying to sell him an alarm system. The resident said the caller asked him a lot of questions trying to get personal information. Investigators believe this was a scam. Identity thieves often search for personal information in calls like this, but then can use the personal information to commit identity theft. …

Manchester Resident Falls Victim to Identity Theft Bank Account Scam

Manchester detectives are investigating after a man received a letter from a bank telling him that his account was overdrawn.

The following information was supplied by the Manchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made. According to the Manchester Police Department, a resident from the 2800 block Carman Woods Drive reported the apparent scam on July 2.  Captain Charles Hunn tells Patch that the man brought a letter to police that stated his bank account was overdrawn by $499.83. The account was with USAA Bank in San Antonio, TX.  "They tell him he's got thirty days to pay it or he's going to mess up his credit," Hunn explained. "He said he's never had any dealing with the bank and didn't understand why he was receiving this letter." Police Warn of Landscaping Scam in Manchester

One woman was reportedly scammed out of $700 after she called the number on a flier advertising landscaping service for her home.

The following information was supplied by the Manchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made. A Manchester resident tells police a man posing as a contact person and the contractor for Holmes Landscaping scammed her out of $700.  Manchester Police Captain Charles Hunn tells Patch the woman just contacted police on June 11, but her check was actually cashed on May 22. Crime Alert: Do Not Open Bogus Post Office Emails, Contain Virus

If you receive an email about a package delivery or online postage charges, do not open it. It appears to be from the post office, but it is a scam than can infect your computer.

The U.S. Postal Service and Town and Country Police Department are warning residents there is an email scam underway and anyone who receives one of the emails should delete it immediately. The post office sent out the alert in an email stating that some postal customers are receiving bogus e-mails about a package delivery or online postage charges. Customers should not open the email. It contains a link or attachment that will install a virus on your computer once opened. The viruns can steal your personal information. Town and County Doctor Sentenced For Cancer Drug Scam

Local cancer doctor sentenced and ordered to pay more than $1 million for purchasing misbranded cancer treatment drugs, according to prosecutors.

Abid Nisar of Town and Country was sentenced to 2 years probation and 200 hours of community service, according to the U.S. Attorneys Office Friday. In a news release, prosecutors stated that Nisar will also pay $1,000,336 in restitution to Medicare in connection to false claims for payment to the Medicare. As previously reported by Patch, Nisar, whose office is in Florissant pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of receiving misbranded prescription drugs, including Neupogen®, Herceptin®, and Rituxan®.   Prosecutors announced Nasir's sentence Friday in the following news release.
