Update: Rainy Forecast Postpones Scheduled Rock Blasting on I-270

MoDOT had warned drivers that traffic would be stopped Wednesday afternoon.

Update: MoDOT announced that the scheduled blasting would not take place due to predicted rain Wednesday.   The Missouri Department of Transportation is warning drivers to expect traffic delays on southbound Interstate 270, between Manchester Road and Interstate 44, as rock blasting takes place this week. Weather permitting, the blasting is set to begin Wednesday along southbound Interstate 270 at 1 p.m, MoDOT stated in a news release. This means all lanes in both directions of I-270, between Manchester Road and Interstate 44, will be closed for up to 15 minutes on weekdays.. Traffic Alert: MoDOT Halts I-270 Lane Closures for July 4 Holiday

MoDOT will not close Interstate 270 lanes Tuesday afternoon or at any time Wednesday due to Fourth of July holiday travel.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will not blast rock and close all lanes on Interstate 270 Tuesday afternoon or all day Wednesday. According to a MoDOT news release Monday, the brief cancellation is due the Indepenence Day holiday. (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.) Blasting and the approximately 15-minute lane closures are expected to resume Thursday. They take place in both directions of I-270 from Interstate 44 to Manchester Road. The road closes at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. each weekday, to blast rock south of Dougherty Ferry Road. The closures are part of the I-270 lane expansion project. MoDOT Cancels I-270 Closures, Rock Blasting For Rest of Week

Modot is canceling the daily road closures on I-270 between Manchester and Big Bend roads in West County.

The Missouri Department of Transportation announced Wednesday morning it is canceling the daily Interstate 270 lane closures so crews can can complete survey work in the blasting region. MoDOT I-270 Update: Expect Brief Closures Friday

MoDOT reports the I-270 closures will continue Friday and so far there have not been major problems or delays.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports Thursday that morning and afternoon closures went as planned in the Interstate 270 work zone in West County. Rock blasting is taking place between Manchester and Big Bend roads daily. (Read Previous Story: Blasting on I-270 Begins Tuesday, Interstate Will Shut Down) MoDOT reports no major problems or traffic delays in the area and plans to move forward with Friday's morning and afternoon blasts as originally scheduled. The morning blasting time is around 10 a.m. and the afternoon is around 1:30 p.m. Drivers are advised to avoid that area during blasting because I-270 will close for approximately 15 minutes around those times during the weekdays. MoDOT: I-270 Daily Closures Running Smoothly So Far

MoDOT reports Wednesday's road closures and rock blasting on northbound and southbound I-270 experienced no serious issues.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports it is monitoring the work zone along I-270 in West County where rock blasting and road closures are taking place daily.  (Read Previous Story: Blasting on I-270 Begins Tuesday, Interstate Will Shut Down) So far, there have not been any problems in the work zone between Manchester and Big Bend roads, according to MoDOT. However, drivers are urged to "pay attention to signs in the work zones and alter their travel times by leaving earlier for their daily commute." Wednesday, MoDOT stated in a news release that the morning blasting time around 10 a.m. closed the road for less than 10 minutes. Afternoon Blasting & I-270 Road Closure Canceled

The next closure of I-270 will be Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has just canceled the 1:30 p.m. rock blasting that was scheduled on Interstate 270 Tuesday. The blasting would have shut down northbound and southbound I-270 between Manchester and Big Bend roads. (Read Previous Story: Blasting on I-270 Begins Tuesday, Interstate Will Shut Down) MoDOT states in a news alert, that the Tuesday afternoon blast is canceled and the next closure is scheduled for Wednesday at 10 a.m.  MoDOT crews are evaluating Tuesday morning's closure and will make any necessary adjustments for upcoming blasting times. Blasting on I-270 Begins Tuesday, Interstate Will Shut Down

MoDOT is warning drivers to avoid I-270 during the morning and afternoon hours when blasting will take place and close the road for about 15 minutes at a time. It begins Tuesday and will last all week.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is warning drivers to expect delays and avoid the area on Interstate-270 between Manchester and Big Bend roads during rock blasting times. Beginning Tuesday, there will be daily lane closures on I-270 from Manchester Road to Big Bend in both directions for up to 15 minutes at a time all week long. The closures will take place at approximately 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m, Kara Price, spokesperson for MoDOT previously told Patch. During the closures, road crews will blast rock and then clear any rock from the interstate before reopening the lanes. However, there is the chance closures can last longer than 15 minutes so drivers are advises to avoid that stretch of road from 9:50 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and then …
