Arrest After Weapon Brandished During Manchester Road Rage Incident

One person was arrested for flourishing a replica firearm on Manchester Road, police report.

The following information was supplied by the Manchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made. (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.) Police say one person was arrested and charged in connection to a Nov. 23 road rage incident.  Authorities said one driver pointed an "air soft pistol" at another driver while driving in the 14300 block of Manchester Road. That location is just west of Highway 141. The suspect was detained and later charged with unlawful use of weapon.  Police said the "air soft pistols" are used for playing games. Air soft guns are reportedly replica firearms that fire plastic pellets by way of compressed gas or electric and/or spring-driven …

My goodness, play with fake guns get shot with real ones. Airsoft is for games not for threatening http://www.airsplat.com/maxsplat-training.htm Be careful people, they are great to use for protection but when it comes to police it is dangerous.   more ›

Traffic Ahead: A Heads-Up For Those Going to the Blues Game Saturday

The exit closures continue downtown, and the Blanchette Bridge will have some lanes closed overnight.

Traffic Troublemakers What's even more maddening than road closures and construction that slow you down? Inconsiderate, irresponsible drivers that make you just shake your head in disbelief. Each week on Patch, we'll highlight some of these Traffic Troublemakers, plus give you a look at what to expect on the roads courtesy of the Missouri Department of Transportation. This week's story comes from Nancy, Traffic Troublemaker editor's wife. I was on Watson Road, and a car slowly pulled out into traffic in front of me, and continued to drive about 10 MPH under the speed limit. I could barely see the driver, and thought it was a classic LOL (little old lady) peering over the steering wheel. When I got close, though, I saw that this LOL was on …

Traffic Ahead: No Work Over Holiday Weekend

MoDOT is giving workers and travelers a break from Friday, noon through Tuesday, 9 a.m.

Each week on Patch, we'll highlight some of these Traffic Troublemakers, plus give you a look at what to expect on the roads courtesy of the Missouri Department of Transportation. Affton-Shrewsbury Patch editor Andrew Dana Hudson reports an unsettling encounter: I was on Holly Hills in South City and pulled up to the intersection with Gravois. I had a green light and needed to turn left, but I looked and four other cars zoomed through the intersection on Gravois. They had a green light too! It was a four way green light. Not only is …

Traffic Ahead: If You Have to Go Downtown, Take I-44

All lanes on eastbound I-64 in downtown St. Louis will close this weekend.

What's a bigger Traffic Troublemaker than a driver/texter/talker? Not much, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said this week. An August, 2010, collision on I-44 in Gray Summit, MO, killed two and injured 35. One driver was "most likely distracted from the driving task by a text messaging conversation at or near the time of the accident," according to the NHSB. The national board recommends that every state ban nonemergency use of portable electronic devices for all drivers. Do you agree? Take our poll below!   From MoDOT, work zones for December 15-21 All lanes on eastbound I-64 in downtown St. Louis will close this weekend In downtown St. Louis, all lanes on eastbound I-64 from Jefferson to 6th Street will close this weekend…

Traffic Ahead: Use that Horn! (When Appropriate)

Construction south, west and more west this week.

Each week on Patch, we'll highlight some of these Traffic Troublemakers, plus give you a look at what to expect on the roads courtesy of the Missouri Department of Transportation. A possibly too-polite Central County Patch editor reports: While traveling recently on westbound Page Avenue near Lindbergh Boulevard, I noticed a car off in the far right lane. It appeared to be exiting for northbound Lindbergh—until it decided to careen into my lane, right in front of my vehicle.  It's yet another example of a time I probably could have used my horn and didn't. Big Change on Route 141 In West St. …

Traffic Ahead: MoDOT Workers Take Off Thanksgiving

All MoDOT work to stop at noon on Wednesday.

We opened up the horror stories to travel of the Thanksgiving sort this week. Traffic Troublemakers A local Patch employee relates an airport horror: An hour to get through security in terminal 2 at Lambert, and everyone had two, three, four bags plus carryons and laptops! AND lots of hollering kiddos in every other aisle of the packed plane ;-) Another Patcher recalls a road trip back to college (Michigan State) after the long weekend, driving the Ford LTD wagon on 2-lane roads. His brother was driving, the Patch guy was dozing in the shotgun seat, until he's awakened by the roar of the V-8 automatically downshifting to second, taking off like a rocket. The brother was passing, uphill, across a double-yellow. The adrenaline rush lasted a …
