The St. Louis Department of Revenue has four offices to serve patrons.
Missouri state law requires real property and personal property taxes to be paid by Dec. 31, 2012. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Tax payments must be postmarked or received by Dec. 31, or will be considered delinquent. Delinquent payments are subject to late charges of 2 percent interest per month, or any portion thereof, with a maximum of 18 percent per year, plus a 2 percent penalty. Self-addressed courtesy reply envelopes are included with the tax bill for mailing payments. Real property and personal property tax payments may be submitted on one check and mailed in one envelope. The Town and Country Board of Aldermen is examining the city's proposed 2013 fiscal year budget. A public hearing will be held on the proposed budget before aldermen vote on whether to approve it.
The Town and Country Board of Aldermen is examining the city's proposed 2013 fiscal year budget. City Financial Director Betty Cotner presented the proposed Fiscal Year 2013 budget to aldermen prior to the last board of aldermen meeting on Oct. 22. Cotner said the city's total budgeted expenditures is $16,504,160 and total revenues is $14,090,700 for FY 2013. Sales tax makes up the majority of city's revenue, with utility taxes second in line and licenses and permit costs coming in third. However, Cotner said there is a 5.62% percent decrease in general fund revenues from FY 2012's $9,858,650 to $9,304,680 in 2013. A public hearing for the city's 2012 property tax rate is scheduled for Monday night's Town and Country Board of Aldermen meeting. The city is once again proposing to maintain the city's current property tax rate at zero percent. Currently, residents in Town and Country do not pay a city property tax. Manchester's 2012 property tax rates will remain the same as in 2010 and 2011, and even decrease from last year in some instances.
The Manchester Board of Aldermen set the 2012 property tax rates Monday night. Most rates will remain the same in 2012 as as they were in 2011 and 2010 and some even decreased. The Town and Country Board of Aldermen has a packed agenda Monday night. Aldermen are set to discuss deer management, property taxes, sales tax, utility taxes, the Clayton Road Trail and the city's waste code on Monday night.
