Recap Live Soccer Chat: High School vs. Academy Soccer

What questions do you have about a new training schedule mapped out by U.S. Soccer officials which would steer some players away from high school competition?

What price do you pay for playing soccer at a level which could lead to a college scholarship, playing professionally, and possibly playing to represent your country? Starting this fall, it could mean the opportunity to play for your high school. Earlier this month, the U.S. Soccer Development Academy announced a move that could alter the landscape of high school soccer programs around the country. The academy, which is backed by the U.S. National team, announced it is moving to a 10-month training schedule effective this fall. SO, they should give up playing for there high school team so that 1 or 2 kids can make the National Team!!!! Is this really what is best for the majority of the soccer players out there??? Are they not already playing HS and then going straight into Club ball and playing mostly year round already?? This is unbelievable!! What sport is next: baseball, basketball, volleyball!!! Priory Fights For Tough Win Over Westminster

The Rebels battle the Wildcats down to the wire for a win.

The Priory Rebels moved to 2-1 on the season on Friday with a second straight win, by a score of 12-6 over Westminster Friday night in a game played at CBC. The Rebels used a strong defense to win the field position battle in the first half, keeping the Wildcats inside their own 20-yard line. Seve Esparrago was a difference-maker for Priory, scoring a touchdown, recording an interception on defense and also recovering a fumble on the night. Westminster head coach Cory Snyder felt his players did well, despite the loss. “I’m proud of our kids. We got to the end but we didn’t come through.”, said Snyder. Priory’s head coach, Marty Combs, was happy with the win. “We did what we had to do to win. I think we executed fairly well,” said Combs. …
