High School Football: Colts Shut Out Vikings In Parkway Clash

The Colts remain undefeated heading into next weekend's matchup with University City.

In a matchup that carried plenty of upset potential for Parkway Central after last week's win over Webster Groves, the Colts continued a season-long theme focused on using the team's multi-faceted rushing attack and a stingy defense to go on the road and shut out Parkway North 23-0 Friday. "We had a very emotional win last week and I just worried about our intensity and our fire and I challenged our kids and I feel like they lived up to the challenge," Central Head Coach Mark Goldenberg said. Check out our Facebook Photo Gallery From The Game After the the teams traded punts for most of the first quarter, a Parkway Central 82 yard drive exclusively on the ground except for a pass play from Zach Lazenby to Jake Bushman ended with a Lazenby …

Parkway West Suffers Homecoming Football Game Loss Against Parkway Central

Parkway West Head Football Coach Jeff Duncan said the Longhorns haven't won against Parkway Central since 2008.

Parkway West students, fans and alumni packed the stands for the school's Homecoming football game Sept. 14 against the Parkway Central Colts.  Visit Ballwin-Ellisville Patch on Facebook for more photos from the game and Homecoming festivities. Aside from the presentation of Homecoming court and the marching band presentation at halftime, Longhorns fans had little reason to cheer. Down at the half 28 to 0, West allowed another Central touchdown through their defense at 11:18 remaining in the 3rd quarter. The Colts failed to pick up an extra point with a missed field goal, but the score advanced to 34-0. Five minutes later into the 3rd, Central took a field goal to jump their lead to 37-0. A faulty Longhorns possession into the 4th, the …

The Parkway School District is using two Parkway schools to test their new initiative, BYOD (Bring Your Own Device).

The Parkway School District is using two Parkway schools to test their new initiative, BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Students at Parkway Central Middle and Parkway North High School are allowed to bring their own electronic device to class this year. The initiative, called BYOD (Bring Your Own Device), aims to catch up with modern times. “I think it was time for us to try it out,” said Parkway School Board president Beth Feldman. The program, Feldman said, will have to be tested out at the two schools before implementing it district wide. “The teachers will have to establish the parameters,” Feldman said. “They will need to determine what the students can use, what they can see, what the teachers are going to do with this technology and …

MoDOT has taken the stretch of Route 141 between Parkway Central High School and St. Luke's Hospital down to one lane.

The Missouri Department of Transportation said in a news release that although much of the new Route 141 opened this weekend, drivers can expect continued lane restrictions through the remainder of the project.  (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.) Max Scherzer Pitches Through Family Pain

The Parkway Central grad pitched and lost Saturday just days after suffering a more important loss.

In the world of sports, the cliche of soldiering on despite "adversity" is often thrown around at the drop of a hat. For the past few days, a Parkway Central family mourning the loss of a son has been forced to do just that in the face of real grief.  Alex Scherzer, 24, died Thursday. Media reports have not identified an official cause. His brother, Max, took two days off to attend to "personal matters" and then went back to work Saturday--on the mound for the Detroit Tigers against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Max Scherzer pitched 6 innings and took the loss against the Pirates, but as mlive.com reported, the former Colt and Missouri Tiger pitcher has the support of his teammates. According to Schrader Funeral Home, a memorial service for Alex…
