Parkway Central Grad Meyer Shining at Webster University
Katy Meyer is not only a top Division III basketball player at Webster, but has excelled as a student and as a leader.
In 2007, Katy Meyer graduated from Parkway Central with a 4.2 grade-point average. She was also the starting center on the girls' basketball team, averaging 10 points and 7 rebounds per game. Meyer, 5-foot, 10-inches, was recruited by several schools outside the St. Louis area. But instead of leaving town, she ended up without a basketball scholarship while rewriting the record books at Webster University. "I had to ask myself if college was about basketball or academics. If I took the basketball away from it, Webster had the best academics of the schools I was looking at," Meyer said after scoring 16 points in a Webster victory over Augustana College on Nov. 27.
