Construction Industry Sees Growth Through West County Retailers

Experts suggest a growing demand for construction work, like that seen in West County, is a sign of economic recovery.

Local construction companies are finally seeing signs of economic recovery in both the national and St. Louis market.  Clayco is working on two million square feet of construction projects in the St. Louis area, including the Missouri Baptist West Pavilion and the recently completed BJC’s Clinical Learning Institute, a nursing school also located on the Missouri Baptist Town & Country campus. The St. Louis Construction News reports that construction companies and architects should be seeing new business as out of town retailers move into the St. Louis region to occupy stores left vacant by the closing of Borders, Linens & Things and Circuit City. Retailers Look to Excite Shoppers with Fitness

January is a month for new beginnings and resolutions. Retailers around Patch are capitalizing on American’s annual flirtation with exercise to bring in shoppers.

Swim, Bike, Run, the unique fitness store for triathletes in Town and Country, is jumping on the January fitness craze bandwagon with a sale on bikes, shoes and winter apparel. The gym is offering a free week to try out the gym, plus their …

Wonder What's Moving in Next to Weekends Only?

It's the new Nordstrom Rack store and right now construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of March.

Have you noticed the construction right next door to Manchester's Weekends Only store at the intersection of Manchester Road and Highland's Boulevard Drive? Franz Kraintz, Manchester's director of planning, zoning and economic development, tells Patch it's the future site of the new Nordstrom Rack store. Brinkman Constructors is the builder for the project. Kraintz said the city was initially told the building had to be complete by the end of March, but looking at the current progress, he is not sure the deadline will be met. As previously reported by Patch, this will be the second Nordstrom Rack store to open in the St. Louis metro area. Nordstrom Rack is an “off-price” division of Nordstrom’s department stores and will offer merchandise …
