Spend a 'Night Out' with Neighbors for Safety

Tuesday is the 29th National Night Out, an observance designed to unite people against local crime. Which cities or neighborhoods are participating?

The Town and Country Police Department is holding Town and Country Night Out on Saturday, Oct. 2. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) According to the department, the St. Louis Area Police Chiefs Association set the first Tuesday of October as St. Louis Night Out in lieu of the National Night Out in August. The Manchester Police Department is not participating in Tuesday's event.  Police officers drive neighborhoods, often looking for situations or things that "just don't look right." National Night Out (NNO), is being observed in many spots around the St. Louis area on Oct. 2. It spotlights how neighbors can help neighbors do the same. Celebrate Safety With Neighbors During St. Louis Night Out

West Country police are encouraging residents to get out and meet their neighbors on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

The Town and Country Police Department is holding Town and Country Night Out on Saturday, Oct. 2.   According to the department, the St. Louis Area Police Chiefs Association set the first Tuesday of October as St. Louis Night Out in lieu of the National Night Out in August. The Manchester Police Department is not participating in Tuesday's event.  Town and Country police now hope residents across the city will celebrate the event by socializing and meeting neighbors from 6 to 8 p.m. that night.  Town and Country police, West County EMS and Fire Protection District crews and Town and Country elected officials will visit as many “block parties” as possible during the evening. Manchester Police Hold Ice Cream Social Tuesday Night

The event is in recognition of National Night Out. Bring the kids and meet your officers!

The Manchester Police Department is holding an ice cream social from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday night in recognition of the 2012 National Night Out. National Night Out is an event to encourage residents across the country to get out and get to know each other and their police officers. it's also meant to help with crime prevention communities by increasing awareness. Residents are encouraged to bring their kids and stop by the police station Tuesday to enjoy some ice cream with officers. The Manchester Police Department is located at 200 Highlands Boulevard Drive, just across the street from the Manchester Highlands Walmart.

Heat Keeps People In On National Night Out

Tuesday night, police officers handed out free smoothies and talked to residents in the city in an effort to become closer to the community and increase crime prevention awareness.

On Tuesday night, Manchester City police officers helped residents cool down from the 100°F weather as they gave out free smoothies to residents as part of the annual National Night Out. National Night Out is an event to encourage citizens to get know each other and their police force as well as increase awareness of crime prevention. Members of the Manchester Police Department visited different streets around the city, talking to residents, and handing out smoothies. Mayor David Willson attended the ice cream social scheduled at the Manchester Police Department on Highlands Boulevard Drive. The event was moved indoors due to the heat. The Manchester Police Department will visit residents and hold an ice cream social for Tuesday's National Night Out. It's a night for neighbors to stand united against crime.

The Manchester Police Department will visit residents and hold an ice cream social for Tuesday's National Night Out. It's a night designed to fight crime. "It's a demonstration that you will stand together as neighbors against crime," explained Manchester Police Chief Tim Walsh. As part of the nation's 28th Annual National Night Out (NNO), the Manchester Police Department is holding an ice cream social from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday at the police station located at 200 Highlands Boulevard Drive.
