Know How Many Mizzou Tigers Are In/Have Played in the NFL?

Tigers have had a strong showing in the NFL, especially since the 1970s.

No doubt, with a 5-7 season, the Mizzou Tigers had a disappointing launch in the Southeast Conference (SEC). The inability to get six wins and earn a birth in a bowl game was painful. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Still, the Tigers have had rich and proud heritage, especially when earning post-season recognition and putting players into the National Football League. Presently, the Tigers have three quarterbacks on active rosters: Blaine Gabbert, Jacksonville; Brad Smith, Buffalo (QB and wide receiver); and Chase Daniel, New Orleans. Jeremy Maclin, Philadelphia, and Denario Alexander, San Diego, have become two premier receivers in the NFL. Sean Weatherspoon, linebacker for Atlanta, is a key member of the …

Area High Schoolers Hope To Bring An NFL Title Back To St. Louis

"It's game week!" Kyle Eversgerd, the Rams' Fan Development Coordinator, and a co-Head Coach for the squad crowed to his new pupils prior to a workout at Continuity X …

Gabbert Drafted by NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars

Blaine Gabbert, who grew up in Ballwin and attended Parkway West, was drafted by Jacksonville.

Blaine Gabbert most likely wasn't banking on a career in the NFL when he was leading Parkway West High School as the Longhorns' quarterback before graduating in 2008. But, after two winning seasons as starting quarterback at the University of Missouri, and an onslaught of media hype regarding his NFL future, Gabbert’s entrance into the NFL is a reality. What few, if any, draft observers expected, however, was seeing Gabbert taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the 10th overall pick—a relatively low spot for the 21-year-old who many rated as the No. 1 quarterback draft prospect. "I was expecting to get drafted by the end of the night," Gabbert said on ESPN. "I had no preconceived notions coming into tonight. And hey, I'm a No. 10 overall …
