A Town and Country man accused of murdering his wife had his preliminary hearing canceled as St. Louis County prosecutors sent the case directly to a grand jury. Thursday, W. Lynn Gunter pleaded not guilty to charges of murder in the death of his wife in their Town and Country home. Meanwhile, Patch found his former employer sued him for breach of a contract and was awarded a settlement in February.
W. Lynn Gunter pleaded not guilty to a first-degree murder charge in St. Louis County Circuit Court Thursday morning. A second person is in jail, charged in connection to the ambush, shooting and killing of a former Parkway South graduate from Ballwin.
St. Louis County police said Shermell Crockett, 20, is in custody at the St. Louis County Jail. He is charged with one count of second degree murder, one count of first degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. Crockett, of the 2100 block of Rosebud in Hillsdale, is currently being held on a $500,000 cash only bond. He is the second person to be charged in connection to the weekend murder of an Imo's Pizza delivery driver. A 20-year-old is now charged in connection to the shooting death of a Ballwin man and Parkway graduate who was ambushed, shot and killed while delivering pizza this weekend.

Autopsy results show Ainsley Freeman and her mother, Amy Freeman Burton, were shot in the head. Both previously attended the Parkway School District.
Police said former Parkway School District student, 13-year-old Ainsley Freeman most likely did not shoot herself. Initial autopsy results show that Ainsley and her mom, 37-year-old Amy Freeman Burton, each died from one gunshot to the head. Although the official report is not yet available, and results are not yet conclusive, "evidence does suggest that Ainsley did not likely shoot herself," Lt. Jeff Bretzing said in a press release. A mother and daughter who both attended Parkway schools were found shot to death. Police don't have a motive, but don't believe a killer is on the loose.
UPDATED 2:45 p.m., Wednesday - Amy Freeman Burton, 37, and her daughter Ainsley Freeman, 13, were found shot to death in their San Francisco area home Monday. They had reportedly moved from the St. Louis area in December. Parkway School District spokesperson Cathy Kelly confirms both mother and daughter attended Parkway schools. Kelly stated in an email to Patch that Amy Freeman Burton graduated from Parkway West High School in 1993 and Ainsley Freeman attended Claymont Elementary School in Ballwin "on and off from kindergarten through fifth grade."
