MoBAP, St. Louis Children’s Hospital Name New Presidents

Joan Magruder, who served as president of Missouri Baptist Medical Center, will become president of St. Louis Children’s Hospital. John Antes will succeed Magruder as president of Missouri Baptist Medical Center.

No Property Taxes Proposed Again For Town and Country

The city of Town and Country will likely keep its zero cent property tax rate for 2012 since the city has enough reserve funds and doesn't see a need to increase the tax rate.

A public hearing for the city's 2012 property tax rate was held at Monday night's Town and Country Board of Aldermen meeting. Currently, residents in Town and Country do not pay a city property tax. Each year, cities across St. Louis County have to set their property tax rates.  The city is once again proposing to maintain Town and Country's current property tax rate at zero. According to City Financial Director Betty Cotner, the city's finance commission voted again for a zero cent property tax due to the amount of funds in the city's reserves which is currently approximately $18 million. Missouri Baptist Medical Center Plans More Growth

The hospital will begin construction in the fall on an addition to its medical office Building C.

Missouri Baptist Medical Center has requested an amendment from Town and Country’s Planning and Zoning Commission regarding a future construction project. The hospital is planning to reduce the size of a medical office building to be constructed sometime in the future and instead build a two-story addition on top of an existing parking garage. Construction on top of Garage C would begin in October, according to Jesse Arevallo, the hospital’s facility and campus planning director. New Trail, Windmill Coming to Town and Country

A new trail is likely coming to Town and Country, a teaching windmill approved, plus the board of aldermen appoints the board president.

A new walking trail will likely be built along Interstate-270, between Clayton Road and the Missouri Baptist Medical Center campus. Monday night, Town and Country aldermen discussed entering into a trail licensing agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation since the land on the east side of I-270, where the trail would build, is in MoDOT's jurisdiction. The City of Town and Country and Missouri Baptist Medical Center have worked out an agreement where Missouri Baptist will develop and pay for building the quarter mile fitness trail that will connect the Clayton Road Trail to a trail on Missouri Baptist's campus.
