That was certainly the case in this report from Creve Coeur Patch.  According to a 10-count complaint filed in St. Louis County Circuit Court, a local couple claimed that doctors involved with the delivery of their baby coerced them into a vaginal delivery against their wishes and then hid the fact that their baby had been decapitated during the delivery process. The same story, posted on Florissant Patch (Florissant Couple Files Lawsuit, Claims Baby Was Decapitated in Delivery), also ranked among the most read stories in Missouri Patch. - - - - -  2. What Time is Tonight’s …

St. Louis Cardinals Season Ends in San Francisco

The Giants beat the Cardinals 9-0 in Game 7 to end the Redbirds' 2012 season.

There will be no World Series in St. Louis this season.  There will be no parade down Market Street, no 12th world championship and no rematch of the 2006 Fall Classic. Monday night in San Francisco the Cardinals hopes of a repeat of 2011 were ended at the hands of the Giants.  (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Just like in 1996, the Cardinals, with a new manager, had a 3-1 lead in the National League Championship series. And, just like in '96, the Cards failed to get win No. 4, losing in Game 7 in a blowout.  The Cardinals were done in by a series of miscues and the inability to get a big basehit. But, credit the San Francisco, the Giants had to play perfect to come back and did just that.  The loss in …

Andy Benes Talks on Tate Matheny Selected By St. Louis Cardinals

Although committed to play collegiately at Missouri State University next fall, recent Westminster grad Matheny was picked in the MLB draft by his father Mike Matheny's team, the St. Louis Cardinals.

It was no surprise and a major surprise, all at the same time Wednesday afternoon, as the St. Louis Cardinals selected Westminster Christian Academy graduate Tate Matheny in the 23rd round of this week's Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. Mike Matheny, Tate's father, Cardinals' manager since November. (Read Previous Story: Tate Matheny Drafted by Dad Mike's Team: St. Louis Cardinals) Matheny (6'1, 180), the star centerfielder for the two-time Missouri Class 3 state champion Wildcats and son of Cardinals manager Mike Matheny, is one of the top-rated high school players in the country, and many thought he would be chosen sometime Tuesday -- during Rounds 4-15 of the Draft. But instead, most likely because of the Matheny family's …

Matheny's Son Among Westminster Athletes Signing With Universities

Mike Matheny's son Tate accepted a scholarship to Missouri State, while softball standout Ellie Huffman is headed to Saint Louis University and golfer Ryan Haxel is going to Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The folks at Westminster Christian Academy celebrated their own version of National Signing Day Wednesday morning at the high school, with a ceremony honoring Wildcat student-athletes Ryan Haxel (golf), Ellie Huffman (softball), and Tate Matheny (baseball), who all recently signed national letters of intent to play sports at three local NCAA Division I colleges beginning next fall. Haxel, one of the top golf talents in the area, signed to play at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, after leading the Wildcats to a second place finish in the Missouri Class 3 boys state championship tournament last spring. Huffman, a top hitter for the Wildcats softball team, hit .441 this fall with two home runs and 45 RBIs, and helped lead Westminster …

Westminster Dad Mike Matheny Named Cardinals Manager

It was a big week for the Matheny family, as Westminster Christian Academy students Tate and Katie Matheny also make collegiate decisions this week.

Mike Matheny spent a lot of time last spring following his son, Tate, and the Class 3 state champion Westminster Christian Academy baseball team. But Matheny will not be spending as much time at Westminster during Tate's senior season as he just got a new job, as manager of the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals. "That balance of power of career and family has always been a tough one for me, and I believe it's tough for everybody in this industry," Matheny said at a press conference Monday. "But the dynamics in my particular family have certainly changed, and a great example is yesterday was a tremendous day for our family. Not just for me, but my son (Tate) signs his national letter of intent to go to Missouri State. My daughter …
