The Cadet alum returns to the fold, talking about challenging his new team, replacing a mentor, and his own son's future.
A week after being announced as the school's new varsity boys basketball coach, 1997 graduate Justin Tatum sat down with Patch for a one-on-one interview Thursday afternoon. Tatum was hired to replace Bob McCormack, another CBC graduate who was on the bench for 17 years, including Tatum's team as a senior which won a state title. McCormack's coaching contract was not renewed after the Cadets, with a team featuring three future Division I caliber players, fell in the district championship game to rival De Smet Jesuit after losing to the Spartans a week earlier. Tatum comes to the school from a successful stint at Soldan High School in the PSL, where he was also Athletic Director. It’s tough," Tatum said of replacing McCormack, who was just …

The two Metro Catholic Conference rivals face off for the right to continue in the state tournament. Patch will have live streaming of the game courtesy of FOX Sports Midwest.
Editor's Note: FOX Sports Midwest streaming service seems to be delayed for this game. Link here to FSM's site to find the De Smet Jesuit vs. CBC game. Friday night at Parkway Central, conference rivals will take to the court for the third time this season, with the most on the line. Last week, De Smet Jesuit (21-6) spoiled CBC's senior night last week with a 74-61 win that was more convincing than the score indicated. The Spartans had no trouble dominating Parkway …

Jordan Barnett scored 25 to lead the way for CBC (20-7). Pat McCaw added 15 and Zach Fischer had 14 for the Cadets. Parkway Central (15-14) was led by Nathan Biggs' 17 in defeat. The Cadets boast a junior class that is the envy of college recruiters around the country, but early on, CBC turnovers, combined with Parkway Central's ability to use back door cuts and the rim for protection on layups against CBC's interior strength kept the …

The Cadets had won two previous matchups with the Red Devils this season.
Update: Chaminade won by a final score of 75-68. Watch the embedded feed courtesy of Chaminade Athletics to see how it happened. The CBC Cadets will try to prove Friday night that you can defeat the same opponent three times in a single season when they take their 14-4 record on the road to Chaminade for a Metro Catholic Conference clash against the Red Devils. Chaminade (12-7) is a different looking squad than the one which fell to CBC in a a pair of matchups early in the season, with the move of freshman Jayson Tatum to the point guard position. The 6-6 phenom has posed matchup problems for shorter opponents since the switch, and has also been something of a late-game hero for the Red Devils with a pair of buzzer beating shots in …
