Town and Country based Charter Communications is hosting a job fair Tuesday, Jan. 8. The company plans to hire approximately 100 employees. Most will work in the call center located in Town and Country Commons, near the intersection of Highway 141 and Clayton Road. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) The job fair is 11:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Sheraton Westport Chalet, 191 Westport Plaza in Maryland Heights. Phillips has a background in accounting and human resources. She sold her staffing business that focused on accounting professionals in March 2010. According to the Employment Situation Summary report released Friday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of Americans in May who were unemployed for 27 weeks or more increased by 361,000 to more than 6 million. More than 8 million Americans are considered “involuntary part-time workers,” meaning that they are working part time because their hours have been cut back or they were simply unable to find a full-time job. And, the report noted, 2.2 million people who wanted and were available for work were not in the labor force, even though they had sought jobs sometime within the past year.
