Consumer Reports thinks so, apparently. Do you agree that Apple is slipping behind its rivals in the smartphone market?
A recent issue of Consumer Reports that ranked the top smartphones in the U.S. placed the iPhone 5 behind its rivals among many carriers and it didn't even crack the top three for Verizon. Business Insider picked up on the magazine's story and speculated that while the iPhone has been a "mind-boggling" success for the past five years, other smartphone makers are starting to catch up, pointing to the success of the Samsung Galaxy S3 among others. The latest incarnation of Apple's smartphone is set for release this month, the Huffington Post reports. An announcement is expected Wednesday.
Long lines. Waiting for backorders. Is it Black Friday already? No. But it is almost time for Apple to release the newest version of its iPhone. The iPhone 5 is set for release in the coming weeks. According to the Huffington Post, the phone could be in stores on Sept. 21. In addition to AT&T and Verizon stores, iPhones will be available at the two local Apple stores in West County Center and the Saint Louis Galleria. Four women who cleaned airplanes at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport face criminal charges for iPad and iPod thefts from flights in 2011. The women stole or received at least six iPads, two iPods and six ebook readers, according to court documents. During the thefts, all four women worked for ABM Janitorial Services, a contractor responsible for cleaning Southwest Airline planes at Lambert. Police said she stole an iPad valued at $909 between 9 p.m. Nov. 5 and 12:30 a.m. Nov. 6 from the Airport Operations area at Lambert. Police said they found one Nook and five Kindle ebook readers valued at $1,309 at Doss’ residence. The items had been stolen from airplanes, according to a police report. Police said felony stealing charges were issued on all five subjects that were arrested by Town and Country police this week.
A group who described themselves to police as a family of "gypsies" has been charged with felony stealing following the theft Tuesday of about 30 iPhones from a Ballwin phone dealership, police said. Authorities said the theft occurred around 10:15 a.m. at the AT&T phone dealership at 15575 Manchester Road, where a total of 30 iPhones were stolen, a store representative reported. The theft occurred when three people entered the store posing as customers, police said, with two of the customers distracting store employees while the third entered the business's back area, filled a garbage bag with the iPhones then ran out of the store. I have owned each of the Apple Phones. I was intending to purchase the next generation BUT then Apple made a mistake and made/designed the IPhone 5. The longer design just turned me off. I would have purchased one if the width had gone along with its height. This appears to be what most buyers are saying with the success of Samsung.
