(For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Last time, Jacober talked about induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame and family life in the broadcast business. More today with the 42-year-broadcast veteran Ron Jacober. Patch.com: What were some of your best interviews? Ron Jacober: I interviewed Muhammad Ali several times. That has to be one of the all time best. Once late at night, I got a call in the KSD newsroom and the caller on the other end told me Ali would be up on Page Avenue tomorrow morning. This year's inductees include those who made an impact on amateur baseball locally as a player, as coaches or as umpires. Sometimes, they've done all three.
It might have felt like the Sheraton Westport Chalet was something like a field of dreams Thursday night in Maryland Heights. For one night, people of all ages came together to honor the past, present and baseball future during ceremonies for the 39th annual St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame inductions, which also included the presentation of the first Jack Buck Media Award, the Bob Broeg Award and the Bob Burnes Award. Also honored were local finalists for the Hall's Future Stars Award. Check out our photo gallery to find out more about the winners, including some familiar faces for people from the Parkway Schools. Late Tuesday Schupp released the following statement to Patch: I have heard from scores of people in the district all asking me to oppose recognizing Rush as a famous Missourian.
