Manchester police say they have made an arrest and issued charges in connection a man seen on surveillance video allegedly tampering with soup at the Dierbergs salad bar.
As previously reported by patch, Manchester police are investigating after witnesses said they saw a man adding something to a pot of soup at the salad bar of the Dierbergs at 421 Lafayette Center. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Wednesday, Manchester police told Patch an investigation involving police and the FBI led to an arrest in the case. Police said John Schewendemann of Manchester voluntarily went to the Manchester Police Department Tuesday night after store surveillance video of the alleged incident was released to the media. The FBI says Special Agent Jarrod M. Petrelli led “Operation Scorpion King” in dismantling a St. Louis area heroin trafficking ring.
According to the St. Louis division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Special Agent Jarrod M. Petrelli passed away unexpectedly while working on Dec. 6. He died just three days before his 35th birthday of natural causes, according to the FBI. Petrelli was reportedly assigned to the St. Louis area after joining the FBI in 2008. He had lived here with his family since 2009 and leaves behind a wife and three young daughters. The FBI stated in a news release that the special agent led “Operation Scorpion King” in dismantling a St. Louis area heroin trafficking ring. The following information was provided by the St. Louis office of the FBI. The FBI is asking for help identifying the man in these photos. Agents want to locate and speak with him regarding the sexual exploitation of a child. Authorities believe the man may have visited a QT gas station, possibly one in the St. Louis area. In light of what some believe was an arson attack that burned down a Mosque in the outskirts of Joplin on Aug. 6, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) in St. Louis held a press conference Wednesday to offer support to the Muslim community there and throughout America. Kirkwood resident Faizan Syed, executive director for CAIR-St. Louis, led the press conference at West County's Dar-Ul Islam Mosque, located near Manchester and Weidman roads. He said the Muslim community in Joplin has been attacked several times in the past by a minority of outer Joplin residents. Following a Manchester Police Department investigation, Susan Hampe pled guilty to two counts of theft.
Susan Hampe, 62, of Des Peres, pled guilty to two counts of theft of mail in connection with an embezzlement and fraud scheme, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. This case was investigated by the Manchester Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. "I'd say we've been working on it for a better part of a year," Manchester Police Chief Timothy Walsh said. According to court documents and the U.S Attorney's Office, Hampe was the office manager of the health center off Enchanted Parkway in Manchester from 2005 until 2010. The FBI says they've arrested a "serial bank robbery suspect" that may have robbed the UMB Bank in Town and Country last month.
Special agents with the FBI said two people are now in custody and one of those people is a "serial bank robbery suspect" they say may have robbed the UMB Bank in Town and Country last month. Chambers, 32, of St. Louis was arrested Friday. Town and Country Police and the FBI are searching for the man seen in these surveillance photos after the UMB Bank in Town and Country was robbed Saturday morning. According to the FBI, the bank at 13969 Manchester Road was robbed around 11:30 a.m. Saturday. No one was injured, but the robber reportedly entered UMB Bank and approached the teller and pulled a handgun. According to the FBI's website BanditTrackerSt.Louis.com the man demanded money then ordered two customers and two bank employees to the ground. The robber fled the bank in a silver car with an undisclosed amount of money. Just read where the charges were going to be dropped because Dierberg's threw out the soup? Why in the world would they do that knowing it was evidence? I normally go to Dierberg's for lunch once or twice a week...I think I'll find some other place to go since they don't care about their customers!   more ›
