Town and Country - Based Energizer Confirms 290 Layoffs in Missouri

As part of an existing plan to eliminate 1,500 jobs, Energizer representatives in Town & Country confirm 290 of the layoffs will take place at its Maryville, MO, plant.

Energizer Holdings Inc. managers this week said the positions of 290 employees in Maryville, MO, will be eliminated as part of a previously announced restructuring, according to a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act) notice filed Jan. 28 with the U.S. Department of Labor. WARN protects workers, their families, and communities by requiring most employers with 100 or more employees to provide notification 60 calendar days in advance of plant closings and mass layoffs. Energizer spokesperson Ken Fields tells Patch this set of layoffs did not impact local Town & Country employees, although he agrees it is confusing, given the references to both the Maryville Energizer campus in the St. Louis area and the company's battery …
