Long-Awaited Project to Build New I-64 Bridge Begins

Construction crews have started work on a new span of the Daniel Boone Bridge that will eventually replace the narrow, 1935 westbound portion connecting Chesterfield and St. Charles County.

Local officials praised the start of construction on a new span of the I-64 Daniel Boone Bridge as the culmination of many years worth of effort at a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday.  (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.) The ceremony included officials from the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission and MoDOT along with federal, state and local elected officials and area business leaders.  "There are a lot of people who have worked hard for a long time to get to this point," MoDOT District Engineer Ed Hassinger said.  The Daniel Boone Bridge crosses the Missouri River and connects Chesterfield to St. Charles County. MoDOT: Motorists Should Have Few Work Zone Delays Next Week

MoDOT reports on the St. Louis work zones for Jan. 3 - 9.

MoDOT is beginning work on the Interstate 64/ Tower Grove Interchange project later this month. This 18-month project, done in partnership with BJC Healthcare and Washington University Medical Center, is intended to improve traffic flow around Kingshighway and the east side of the medical campus.
