Cyclist Struck at Parkway's Barretts Elementary School

A man was reportedly struck by a car while riding his bike through the Barretts Elementary School parking lot Tuesday morning.

The following information was supplied by the Manchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made. (For instant updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Manchester police tell Town and Country-Manchester Patch William Hetlage, 50, of Manchester was struck by a car while riding his bicycle through Barretts Elementary School parking lot around 8:10 a.m. Tuesday. The school is located near the intersection of Carman and Dougherty Ferry roads. Investigators tell Patch a mother had just dropped off her child and was leaving the parking lot when she collided with the cyclist. The man was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur for head injuries, according to Manchester Police Captain Charles …

PLEASE increase the police presence at the area schools in the morning. The intersection at Piermont elementary is extremely dangerous in the mornings. Parents, buses, teachers - everyone rolls through the stop sign.   more ›
