Help Parkway Central Middle Schooler Win Doodle 4 Google Contest

A Chesterfield eighth-grader is one of 50 finalists in the United States, representing Missouri, in Google's national "Doodle 4 Google" contest, with a shot at a $30,000 scholarship to the school of her choice. Ruimin Wu of Parkway Central Middle School has already won a trip to New York City, a Wacom digital design tablet and a T-shirt with her design, which was created on the 2013 theme "My Best Day Ever…". "The picture shows my friends and I when we went to the theme park. We played at the water park in the day and went to the haunted house at night. We had lots of fun," Ruimin wrote in the caption with her doodle, which is online now on Google's "Doodle 4 Google" contest …

Visitation Academy Coach, Parkway West School Colors Named as Favorites in St. Louis School Poll

Visitation Academy and Parkway West High School were named as having some of St. Louis' favorites in a recent St. Louis Magazine poll.

The poll recently published in St. Louis Magazine, asked St. Louisans to name their favorites in a number of school related categories. Town and Country's Visitation Academy and Parkway West High School were named as having some of St. Louis' favorites in the "Where Did You Go to High School?" poll. Parkway West High School won "Best School Colors," while Annie Menees with Visitation Academy  was named "Best Coach." (Click here to read the St. Louis Magazine article.) For the fourth year in a row, the Missouri Department of Transportation is sponsoring its "Battle of the Belt" contest, inviting students around Missouri to produce a 30-second commercial promoting seat belt use. This year, Patch joins the contest with an additional prize category: The readers' choice prize, good for a $250 scholarship contribution for the winning entry. That joins the Gold, Silver and Most Improved categories MoDOT already has. Why this contest? Because MoDOT says Missouri teen safety belt usage rate for 2011 was only 67 percent.
