Crews were able to make more progress on the Clayton Road project, plus finish some unrelated Clayton Road work Monday, before rain was expected to moved in.

Recent rain and snow delayed progress on the Clayton Road construction a bit, but it's reportedly back on track thanks to the recent dry weather.

The snow and rain delayed work on the Clayton Road Resurfacing and Pedestrian Enhancement Project a bit last week, but it's back on track with this week's dry and sunny weather. That's the latest information from Town and Country Department of Public Works Director Craig Wilde. Wilde is reminding drivers to be cautious when driving through the area and released the following details as part of an email update on the project this week. Work has been moving forward on the Clayton Road Resurfacing and Pedestrian Enhancement Project since the year began and more work is underway between Oaks Springs Lane to Bopp Lane which is phase two of the project. Ground was broken in September and construction began in October beginning the three-phase project to repave Clayton Road from Hwy 141 to the city limits near Bopp Road. Tide Dry Cleaners opened in December. However, some small business owners are concerned about Procter & Gamble trying to clean up their customers, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
As previously reported by Patch, real estate developer Brian Bruce and his father, Bill Bruce, opened their first dry cleaning shop at 14434 Clayton Road in Ballwin on Dec. 8. It's just outside Town and Country. The store, Tide Dry Cleaning, is reportedly a franchise of Procter & Gamble. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) As reported by the St. Louis Business Journal, Brian Bruce is set to spend $5 million to launch a total of eight dry cleaning stores in the St. Louis area. Expect to see an increase in construction and road work in coming weeks as the Clayton Road Resurfacing and Pedestrian Enhancement Project moves ahead.
Phase one of the Clayton Road Resurfacing and Pedestrian Enhancements Project is complete and the City of Town and Country is now moving forward with the next two phases. Phase two, which starts east of Topping Road and extends east to Bopp Road has already begun. Phase three is the pedestrian walkway that will be built along Clayton Road over Route 141. Town and Country Department of Public Works Director Craig Wilde said residents will see activity increasing in the work areas in coming weeks. Drivers will want to watch for cyclists on Clayton Road this weekend. If you haven't registered for the event, you can register on-site Saturday morning.
Cyclists will take to Clayton Road in Town and Country for the Second Annual Clayton Road Classic Saturday. (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.) Walk-ups are welcome the day of and registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Plaza Frontenac. An accident on Clayton Road left one person injured and shut off power to area residents for nearly 12 hours.
Power is restored to West County residents Friday after a crash on Clayton Road Thursday night near the border of Town and Country and Chesterfield. Town and Country police responded to the accident just west of Woods Mill Road around 7:30 p.m, but tell Patch the location of the crash, between Woods Mill Road and Village Green Parkway, is actually Chesterfield. West County EMS and Fire Protection District emergency crews also responded. According to West County Deputy Chief Jeff Sadtler, one car was involved in the accident in front of Target and hit a nearby utility pole head-on into. Town and Country aldermen are sent to vote on yard waste contracts and discuss the next steps necessary to move forward in the Clayton Road enhancement project.
Town and Country Aldermen will address a number of issues Monday night. They will likely move forward with the fall yard waste program for residents. Monday they will vote on entering into a contract with each of the city's waste haulers that would provide the service to residents. The plan would offer four free yard waste pick-up days in November, whether a resident already pays for yard waste service or not.
