Westminster Girls Volleyball Takes State Championship

The Westminster Wildcats swept Pleasant Hill this Saturday in Cape Girardeau.

The Westminster Christian Academy Wildcats won the girls state volleyball championship this weekend.  They are the 2012 State Champions after sweeping Pleasant Hill in the Class 3 championship at the Show-Me Center Saturday. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, this win is just one of many for the school that has won state titles in baseball, boys golf and girls golf.  Click here to read more on Saturday's victory and the athletes involved in the team's win in the Post's article.

Cardinals Victory Parade Sunday in St. Louis

World Series MVP David Freese went to high school in West County, at Lafayette.

The St. Louis Cardinals beat Texas Rangers 6-2 Friday in Game 7 of the World Series to become 2011 champs for the 11th time. The Cardinals Victory Parade starts 4pm at 18th St. and Market in downtown St. Louis, moving down Market Street to 7th St. South to Stan Musial Drive to Busch Stadium. In four trucks will be Cardinals players, Fredbird, Team Fredbird, Rally Squirrel and the marching bands of Lindbergh, Pattonville, Seckman and Belleville high schools. There is also a celebration 2pm Sunday sponsored by Budweiser at the stadium with $5 tickets going on sale 2pm Saturday. Two tickets per sale.
