April Election 2013: What Your Aldermen Candidates Want to Change in Your City

PART 4: There are seven open aldermen seats in Town and Country and Manchester, with eight candidates running in the April 2 election. Only one race is contested. Prepare yourself by reading their responses to recent 'Patch' questions.

There are seven total open aldermen seats in Town and Country and Manchester, with eight candidates running. Gun Shy: Little Support for Armed Teachers Among Parkway Candidates

School security was one of the many topics discussed during a forum for Parkway School Board candidates held by the League of Women Voters Monday.

The eight candidates vying for two spots on the Parkway School Board discussed issues surrounding budgets, teachers, safety, sports and test scores at a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters Monday night. Held at Parkway South Middle School, the forum lasted two hours as the candidates fielded questions proposed by the in-person audience and one watching via a live video stream on the district’s website. Patch has provided a summary their responses to a few of the many questions answered by the candidates in order to give voters a sense of where they stand on some important educational issues. Profiles Provide Basics on Parkway's School Board Candidates

Eight candidates are vying for the two open spots on the district's board of education. The election is set for April 2.

Special School District of St. Louis County to Vote on Board Candidate, Incumbent

Two board seats are up during this election season with one newcomer and one incumbent filing to take the spots.

The deadline has approached to file as a candidate for board positions with the Special School District of St. Louis County (SSD), for the 2013 municipal election season. The SSD administrative offices are located in Town and Country. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) SSD handles the election process a in a different manner than other municipal elections. Nancy Ide, SSD's Chief Communications Officer said the district has one candidate for each of the two seats up for re-election. "With the passage of Proposition S in 1998, SSD Board of Education members are elected by the District’s Governing Council," Ide said. A 3-Way Race For Two Seats on Parkway Board of Education

Last-minute filing by means it's a race on April 3.

The Board of Education race in Parkway School District got a third candidate Tuesday, the last day to file, providing a challenger to the two incumbents on the seven-member board. Kim Appelbaum joined the race against incumbents Beth Feldman and Helen Casteel. The Parkway board of education decides how to spend some $200 million a year in tax dollars on Chesterfield-based public schools, grades K - 12. District officials said the challenger is not related to Tom Appelbaum, a current Parkway Board of Education director. Kim Appelbaum is a Ballwin resident and Maritz IT Contract Manager, with two children inParkway West Middle and High schools. Incumbent Feldman, is currently board vice president.
