After 17 years as CBC’s basketball coach, Bobby McCormack has reportedly been asked to resign, according to STLhighschoolsports.com.
According to STLhighschoolsports.com, three independent sources confirmed to the publication that CBC's basketball coach Bobby McCormack has been asked to resign after 17 years in that position. This news comes after Christian Brothers College High School President Mike England resigned suddenly in January after a reported 25 years with the school. STLhighschoolsports.com stated in its article that the information was confirmed late Tuesday, but McCormack had not returned the publication's request for a comment on the matter. The article also stated that CBC’s Director of Communications Rob Staggenborg had no official word on the news. "A source close to CBC said McCormack has been asked to resign and that it was unlikely he would be …

Saint Louis University High School wins the Challenge Cup 2-1 against CBC thanks to an overtime goal by SLUH's Stephen Lordo.
Saint Louis University High School's Stephen Lordo buried a rebound in the back of the net just more than 3 minutes into overtime and delivered the Junior Billikens their first-ever Mid-States Challenge Cup championship Monday night at Scottrade Center. The goal also stopped CBC from making good on the Cadets' "13 in '13" campaign as a win would have captured CBC's 13th Challenge Cup victory in the year 2013. The game was a rematch of last season's Challenge Cup matchup, which was won by CBC. That loss left bad memories lingering for SLUH's returning players. And Monday they were out for revenge. "Last year left a sour taste in our mouth," said SLUH captain Chase Berger, who helped set up the winning overtime goal by throwing the puck at …

Nolan Berry leads Spartans into state sectional play.
The Hot Read: In a game that at times resembled rugged action you might see on the football field between the two Metro Catholic Conference rivals, De Smet Jesuit used a physical grind to defeat CBC 64-57 Friday at Parkway Central to claim the Class 5 District 4 Championship. Senior Nolan Berry led the Spartans with 21 points in his team's second win against CBC in as many Fridays. Whereas the Spartans used hot shooting early on last week to key the win, this week's episode was more closely contested. Junior guard Patrick McCaw had 15 first half points en route to a 29 point effort to lead all scorers. Jordan Barnett, another cog in CBC's junior trio that also includes Ray Doby, was unable to get it going offensively but finished with a …

Friday night at Parkway Central, conference rivals will take to the court for the third time this season, with the most on the line. Last week, De Smet Jesuit (21-6) spoiled CBC's senior night last week with a 74-61 win that was more convincing than the score indicated. A CBC (20-7) club that is the athletic envy of any team in the state has at times struggled down the stretch when it has relied on shooting jumpshots. The Cadets broke out of that in the second half of Tuesday's district semifinal against Parkway Central to put away the Colts. The Spartans had no trouble dominating Parkway …

Junior Jordan Barnett was the game-high scorer with 25 points.
The Hot Read: In the team's first game back on the court since CBC was humbled by De Smet Jesuit at home on Friday, the Cadets shook off some early play that suggested a repeat performance could be in store, dispatching an upset-minded Parkway Central squad 70-50 in a boys district semifinal Tuesday night. Jordan Barnett scored 25 to lead the way for CBC (20-7). Pat McCaw added 15 and Zach Fischer had 14 for the Cadets. Parkway Central (15-14) was led by Nathan Biggs' 17 in defeat. The Cadets boast a junior class that is the envy of college recruiters around the country, but early on, CBC turnovers, combined with Parkway Central's ability to use back door cuts and the rim for protection on layups against CBC's interior strength kept the …

Two Town and Country seniors were among those who left prep programs for Academy soccer—but still got the benefit of recognition from their high school on signing day.
To celebrate or not celebrate, that was the question. As many high schools seniors around the area made their college choices official by signing and submitting their national letters of intent last week, followed by ceremonies to recognize the athletes for their accomplishment, schools faced something of a conundrum: Do you celebrate athletes who in part may have earned their college scholarships based on what they did away from the high school playing fields? With USA Soccer's decision to force elite prep soccer players to choose between their high schools and their academy programs in effect for the first time this season, traditional St. Louis soccer programs like De Smet Jesuit, CBC and Priory each faced that decision. Brian Hail, …

Check out our Facebook Photo Gallery For More Photos From The Event The school held an assembly in the Gundaker Theater Wednesday morning to celebrate the day, which for football fans has become something of an unofficial holiday. Two key cogs in the Cadet football program's ascent in recent years were front and center for the festivities. Aarion Penton was among the first to fax in his letter of intent to the University of Missouri football program early Wednesday. "It was Mizzzou first and it stayed Mizzou...Mizzou all the way," he …
