In Des Peres last week, a handful of cars and homes were burglarized in a residential neighborhood—a serious enough "spree" that the city blasted an email and text alert to the neighborhoods. As it happens, the burglar got into some unlocked cars, used the garage door opener and walked into a pair of houses in which the inside door was not locked. The report brought on this comment from a reader: "A person would not lock their car outside overnight (or anytime) because? And with a home garage door opener and valuables inside? One man was sentenced to prison, while a second man from West County is set for a plea hearing in coming weeks, in connection to the home burglary of St. Louis Rams Coach Rob Boras.
A High Ridge man has been sentenced for his involvement in a burglary at the Kirkwood home of Rob Boras, the St. Louis Rams tight ends coach. Meanwhile, a second man, Jeffrey Medcalf, of the 1100 block of Briarhurst in Manchester, is scheduled for a May 2 plea hearing. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Town and Country police are investigating after someone entered a home during the daytime hours and reportedly stole the jewelry and other items.

In an email, police stated that between between 9:50 a.m. and 3 p.m., April 8, the items were stolen from home in the 1500 block of Mason Hill Court. Town and Country police are reminding residents to lock their car doors after recent overnight thefts.

Town and Country police are alerting residents to recent thefts from vehicles and reminding them to lock their car doors. Authorities sent out the details in an email this week. Police said a number of unlocked cars in the Bryn Wyck neighborhood, between Conway and Ladue roads, had items stolen during the overnight hours of March 28. One incident involved a group of men wearing ball caps and jump suits. Police released the following details in an email alert Friday and are asking anyone with information to call police. A burglary occurred around 11am this morning (March 15) in the 1700 block of Topping Road. Police are investigating after a back door was forced open and jewelry was stolen from a Town and Country home.

Agreed. Just because a thief or vandal else clearly does wrong, does not mean the victim is necessarily "right" or blameless. It also doesn't mean they have equal blame or most of it. Such black and white thinking on this board. Sometimes victims couldn't have done anything better. Sometimes we can all learn something from the situation...like locking things up and keeping valuables out of sight.   more ›
