Cokesbury, a national retailer of Christian books and other products, is closing its West St. Louis County location along Manchester Road.
The Cokesbury store at 14560 Manchester Road is closing its doors Jan. 12 after 20 years in service. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Amy Smith, spokesperson for the national retailer of Christian products said Cokesbury the West St. Louis County closure is part of a plan by United Methodist Publishing House, the parent company of Cokesbury, to close all 57 stores across the country. "More of our customers are shopping online and in our call center," Smith tells Patch. She said the chain will begin focusing on online sales and services at Cokesbury.com and providing services through its call center. Harry Potter may have vanished into the past, but author J.K. Rowling is still around with her for-adults book, The Casual Vacancy, due out Sept. 27. In West County, you can find the book at Barnes & Noble in Chesterfield, West County Center in Des Peres and Ladue. The new book by the creator of Harry Potter is aiming this book at a grown-up audience. More than 2 million hardcover copies of Rowling's novel are set to be released simultaneously in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Germany.
