April Election 2013: What Your Candidates For Aldermen Say is City's Greatest Challenge

PART 3: There are seven open aldermen seats in Town and Country and Manchester, with eight candidates running in the April 2 election. Only one race is contested. Prepare yourself by reading their responses to recent 'Patch' questions.

There are seven total open aldermen seats in Town and Country and Manchester, with eight candidates running. Only one race is contested, which is the seat for Manchester Ward III alderman currently held by Alderman John Schrader. Aldermen are elected to two-year terms. Henry Avenue Road Project, New Produce Market Before Manchester Aldermen

Tuesday, the Manchester Board of Aldermen will discuss the opening of Scotty's Fresh Produce, applying for a grant for the Henry Avenue project, mosquito control and more. View the full agenda here.

The Manchester Board of Aldermen is set to meet Tuesday night. Monday's regularly scheduled meeting was moved to Tuesday due to the Presidents Day holiday. As previously reported by Patch, Scotty's owner Mark Sgroi plans to open the store in March. Clayton Road Project, Community Garden Before Town and Country Aldermen Monday

The Town and Country Board of Aldermen is set to meet Monday night.  (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.)  Aldermen are set to discuss a number of items regarding the advancement of the Clayton Road Resurfacing and Pedestrian Enhancement Project. Phase 1 is complete of the three-phase project to repave Clayton Road from Hwy 141 to the city limits near Bopp Road. The project also includes creating a multi-use pedestrian trail on the north side of Clayton Road and installing a pedestrian walkway on the existing bridge over Hwy 141, which will connect the sidewalk on the north side of Clayton Road at Old Woods Mill Road to the intersection at Clayton Road and Woods Mill Road.  Aldermen will also …

Candidates Filing for 2013 Spring Elections

Seats on the Town and Country and Manchester board of aldermen, West County EMS and Fire Board and the Parkway School Board are all up for election along with the position of Town and Country Mayor.

UPDATED: Jan. 14 - The race is on for municipal, fire protection district and school board candidates in local elections to be held April 2, 2013. (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.) The official filling period began Dec. 11 and will run until Jan. 15, 2013. Patch has a list of all those who have filed so far in the elections that will impact Town and Country and Manchester residents.  Council members are elected to two-year terms, while the mayor serves for four. New Neighborhood, Henry Avenue Road Repairs Before Manchester Aldermen

At Monday night's Manchester Board of Aldermen meeting, a vote could come to approve moving forward with a plan for Henry Avenue road repairs. (Sign up here for the FREE Patch Newsletter, including Breaking News Alerts.) As previously reported by Patch, aldermen could vote to apply for a federal grant in conjunction with the City of Ballwin for repairs to Henry Avenue. The road runs through both Manchester and Ballwin. The majority of the road runs through Ballwin with an approximate 62/38 percent split, according to Manchester City Engineer Ed Blattner. The two cities could apply for an East/West Gateway Grant in 2013 for projects on the road, including street overlay, stormwater and sidewalks. The project is estimated to cost $2.48 …
