MoDOT made the announcement this week. One of the awards pertains to the Route 141 expansion project in West St. Louis County.

One of the awards is for the Route 141 expansion project that runs through Town and Country, Chesterfield, Creve Coeur and Maryland Heights. More details on how the department recycled during that road project are included in the following news release provided by MoDOT. Former Town and Country police officer Jeff Myer was recognized for jumping into action during an attempted break-in and chasing the burglary suspects before police arrived.

Town and Country's Maryville University was reportedly named number one over-performing university in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

The following information was provided by Maryville University in a news release: Maryville University of St. Louis has been named the No. 1 over-performing university in the nation as cited by U.S. News & World Report and re-reported by The Huffington Post. Experts at U.S. News & World Report looked at data from the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges 2013, then took peer assessment and compared it to actual rankings. Maryville University’s performance is 87 places above its peer assessments. St. Louis County Police Department Drug Task Force agents are receiving the 2012 “Outstanding Community Prevention Effort Award” in Washington, D.C. Thursday.
The heroin-deterrent “Not-Even-Once” campaign initiated in the St. Louis metropolitan area by St. Louis County Police Department officers is credited for a 30 percent drop in deaths from the drug since the effort was launched. The campaign's results also were noticed on a larger scale, resulting in the department just receiving a national award in heroin education. Members of the West Central Dispatch Center are being recognized for the "outstanding" partnership between the Town and Country, Creve Coeur and Frontenac cities and police departments.
The recently created West Central Dispatch Center (WCDC) is being recognized by the East-West Gateway Council of Governments for its intergovernmental collaboration. The police dispatch center began operating in March 2011 out of the Town and Country Police Department. WCDC dispatchers handle police calls for Town and Country, Creve Coeur and Frontenac residents. "Each year the East-West Gateway Council of Governments honors local jurisdictions, public officials and projects that are making special contributions to their community and to the region," the award letter from East-West Gateway Council of Governments states. The students worked on a six-week, intensive summer program along side top St. Louis researchers.
Eight Parkway School District students recently received the LMI Aerospace/D3 Technologies Award for Excellence in Research. The award comes with the completion of a six-week program in which students work alongside top research mentors from several science institutions, such as the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, St. Louis University, Washington University, Solae and UMSL. The students conducted research, shadowed their mentors and attended lectures by nationally recognized scientists. At the end of the program, students submitted research papers on various topics. Manchester resident William Grant Post was recognized at Monday night's Manchester Board of Aldermen meeting for reaching the level of Eagle Scout.
