MoDOT: Blasting Continues on I-270, Be Aware of Crews On All State Roads

Missouri Department of Transportation reports its St. Louis Work zones for May 2-8.

Missouri Department of Transportatation's maintenance crews are continuing to work daily on touching up striping on state roads around the region. Drivers should be aware of slow moving maintenance operations on roadways as crews continue to work on putting on a new coat of paint. When drivers see a MoDOT vehicle with flashing lights, they should remember to slow down or move over to avoid the work ahead. Often three or more maintenance vehicles will be spaced out over some distance to complete maintenance work. In St. Louis County, blasting operations on southbound Interstate 270 near Big Bend is scheduled weekdays at 1 p.m., and will continue weekly, weather permitting. Update: Rainy Forecast Postpones Scheduled Rock Blasting on I-270

MoDOT had warned drivers that traffic would be stopped Wednesday afternoon.

Update: MoDOT announced that the scheduled blasting would not take place due to predicted rain Wednesday.   The Missouri Department of Transportation is warning drivers to expect traffic delays on southbound Interstate 270, between Manchester Road and Interstate 44, as rock blasting takes place this week. Weather permitting, the blasting is set to begin Wednesday along southbound Interstate 270 at 1 p.m, MoDOT stated in a news release. This means all lanes in both directions of I-270, between Manchester Road and Interstate 44, will be closed for up to 15 minutes on weekdays.. Lane Closures Tonight on I-270 in West St. Louis County

MoDOT is warning drivers to expect delays when lane closures begin tonight on Southbound I-270 between Manchester Road and I-44.

Weather permitting, the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin lane closures Monday night on southbound I-270 between Manchester Road and I-44. In a news release Monday, MoDOT stated that the closures are to complete the road widening project and they will take place daily during non-peak hours. Crews will set the barrier wall starting Monday which will begin at Dougherty Ferry Road and continue north of I-44. MoDOT said four through lanes will remain open to traffic and then beginning April 1, there will be 15 minute delays twice a day on weekdays for blasting. The blasting will last approximately two months, while construction on southbound I-270 is expected to be complete by late December, the news release stated.

Traffic Alert: Lanes Closing on I-270 Next Week

Missouri Department of Transportation reports on the St. Louis work zones for March 14 - 20.

Up to two lanes will be closed on southbound Interstate 270 overnight Monday through Wednesday between Manchester Road and I-44 as part of a widening project. Overnight closures of various ramps and lanes will occur on the Poplar Street Bridge in downtown St. Louis Sunday through Wednesday evening. Two entrance ramps to I-70 from Mid Rivers Mall Drive will close beginning Monday, March 18, weather permitting. The loop ramp from northbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive to westbound I-70, and the loop ramp from southbound Mid Rivers Mall Drive to eastbound I-70 will close. Additional Northbound I-270 Lane Open, Work Zones Restricted for Holiday

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports its St. Louis work zones for Dec. 20-26.

The opening of an additional lane on northbound Interstate 270 and ramps on I-55 will mean smoother travel for some area commuters. The new lane of roadway will increase the number of vehicles that can travel through the area during morning rush hour and decrease congestion for commuters. MoDOT Will Install Signs On I-44 at I-270 Next Week

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports its St. Louis work zones for December 6-12.

MoDOT will close two lanes on eastbound Interstate 44 from Bowles Avenue to I-270 on Sunday, weather permitting. Only the far left lane will remain open. Work will occur from 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) Crews will install seven large new guide signs on overhead steel trusses. During this work, the South Highway Drive entrance ramp to eastbound I-44 will be closed. Motorists will detour to Larkin Williams Road/Rudder Road. Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-270 Near Highway 40, Avoid Area

MoDOT is reporting a multi-car crash on northbound I-270 near Highway 40. Drivers are reporting the interstate is a parking lot. Avoid the area.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is reporting a multi-car crash on northbound I-270 near Highway 40 and Ladue Road. Creve Coeur crews are on the scene that is very near Town and Country. Drivers are reporting the interstate is a parking lot and lanes are closed. MoDOT is advising drivers to avoid the area the area and find an alternate route.

Traffic Alert: MoDOT Halts I-270 Lane Closures for July 4 Holiday

MoDOT will not close Interstate 270 lanes Tuesday afternoon or at any time Wednesday due to Fourth of July holiday travel.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will not blast rock and close all lanes on Interstate 270 Tuesday afternoon or all day Wednesday. Blasting and the approximately 15-minute lane closures are expected to resume Thursday. They take place in both directions of I-270 from Interstate 44 to Manchester Road.
