The St. Louis Rams have outlined a renovation plan for the Edward Jones Dome that is estimated to cost $700 million.
The Rams want us to buy them a new house. Just fixing up its current home—the Edward Jones Dome—won't do. Instead, the St. Louis football franchise expects an extreme makeover, to the tune of $700 million, as it is estimated by a company hired by the St. Louis Convention and Visitors Commission (CVC) to analyze the team's counter proposal to a the CVC's own plan to upgrade the Edward Jones Dome with a $124 million facelift. If someone doesn't cough up the $700 mil to redo the Dome, it is feared the team will take its football and go home to Los Angeles, where it came from before it was the St. Louis franchise. All of this wrangling was set in motion in 1995 when the team negotiated a 30-year lease with the CVC. It was stipulated that the …

Junior Abby Grimes solo goal at the 49:08 minute mark of the second half was the only score in the game. The Vivettes made it hold up for the Class 2, District 5 title. Now, the V’s go on to play the winner of Trinity-St. Charles in the regional round. First things first. Patriots erase memories of nightmare loss in last year’s semifinals to claim their second district title in the last three years.
For an entire year, the Parkway South baseball team had to sit around and think about what could’ve been last year, when despite being one of the top-ranked teams in the area, they were bounced from the district playoffs early in an upset loss to rival Eureka. Through all those workouts, practices, and weight-training sessions, the Patriots concentrated on one collective goal -- getting back to the district championship game and this time winning it. (Be sure to "Like" Patch on Facebook - check out our page here.) And that year-long dream finally became a reality for Parkway South on Tuesday, as the Patriots outhit, outpitched, and thoroughly outplayed pesky league rival Lafayette, for an 8-4 victory, that gave South its second district …

Parkway graduate finishes eighth in the Olympic Trials Friday in San Diego; will be alternate for the U.S. triathlon team for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
Sarah Haskins came up just short in her bid Friday to be a member of the US Olympic triathlon team. (Read Previous Story: Parkway Grad Sarah Haskins Makes Olympic Bid Friday in San Diego) Haskins, a Parkway South graduate who now lives in High Ridge finished eight at the International Triathlon Union race in San Diego, which was by Brit Helen Jenkins. More importantly to Haskins' hopes, however, was the third place finish by Laura Bennett, the top American finisher. Since two spots on the U.S. Olympic triathlon team already had been decided, the San Diego race would only see one more U.S. racer selected. Bennett secured that spot. The other two Americans on the U.S. team, who had previously qualified, are Sarah Groff and Gwen Jorgensen. …

This year's inductees include those who made an impact on amateur baseball locally as a player, as coaches or as umpires. Sometimes, they've done all three.
It might have felt like the Sheraton Westport Chalet was something like a field of dreams Thursday night in Maryland Heights. For one night, people of all ages came together to honor the past, present and baseball future during ceremonies for the 39th annual St. Louis Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame inductions, which also included the presentation of the first Jack Buck Media Award, the Bob Broeg Award and the Bob Burnes Award. Also honored were local finalists for the Hall's Future Stars Award. Check out our photo gallery to find out more about the winners, including some familiar faces for people from the Parkway Schools. St. Charles County and the St. Louis Cardinals.

The team has the sixth overall pick in the first round of the NFL Draft.
The St. Louis Rams already have made one of the biggest draft-related moves of the offseason, trading the second overall selection in this year's draft to the Washington Redskins, who are widely expected to take Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III after the Indianapolis Colts pick Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck. Round 1 will be held Thursday evening, rounds 2-3 on Friday night and the remainder of the draft will take place Saturday. The Rams are holding an official draft night party Thursday at Dave & Busters in Maryland Heights, featuring appearances by players and cheerleaders and the team's Mascot, Rampage. At the moment, the Rams have the sixth pick, and have needs at a variety of positions, including wide receiver, cornerback, …

Idea borne out of a coach shopping for new equipment, has grown into one of the area's best high school soccer events of the year.
One day while at a coaching convention in New York three and a half years ago, Pattonville girls soccer coach Tom Iffrig and assistant coach Scott Johnson were walking past a manufacturer's display for its new pink soccer balls and had a wonderful, simultaneous idea. "We both looked at them, and then at the same time, we turned to each other and said, 'we should do a cancer awareness game'," Iffrig said, on Thursday, after Pattonville played in the Third Annual Kicks For Cancer event at Parkway Central High. "We talked to some people about it, and kind of put it together quickly. And now three years later, it's grown into all this." All this, is an event that while still in its infancy, has grown into an occasion that has raised thousands …

All-star first baseman will answer questions, post exclusive videos and share advice for young athletes in new, regular feature on Patch.
Good news, Cardinals fans! There’s a high-priced, power-hitting, first baseman on the way. Not to play for St. Louis, of course (We think Berkman and Allen Craig will be just fine). Instead, Town and Country - Manchester users young and old can tap into the expertise of New York Yankees star Mark Teixeira, who has been named “Commissioner of Patch Baseball.” Teixeira, a four-time Gold Glove winner and two-time All-Star, will interact with Patch users by regularly responding to questions, sharing baseball tips, and posting exclusive videos. Teixeira will also offer young athletes advice on how to stay in shape and why healthful eating is so important for optimal performance. “I live in a Patch town now and I keep tabs on my original …

With the St. Louis Cardinals' home opener just days away, and with the rival Cubbies coming to town, now's the time for some trash talk — in two words.
You've heard the expression before, right? "I've got two words to say about that!" Well, this is the Patch version, coming ahead of the St. Louis Cardinals' home opener on Friday in which the Redbirds face off against the Chicago Cubs. Starting pitchers are expected to be Jeff Samardzija for the Cubs vs. Adam Wainwright for the Cards. After the Cardinals ruined the home opener for the Miami Marlins with a 4-1 victory in the team's new ballpark, and again ruined the home opener for the Milwaukee Brewers with an 11-5 victory, we have our heart set on a win for the Cards' opener at 2:15 p.m. Friday. The Cardinals get their first home game as they launch the season after their 11th World Series victory last year. The nationally syndicated "…
