Commerce Bank Re-Issues Cards Throughout Schnucks Territory

The cost to the bank has been "significant," an executive said. The news comes after thousands of Schnucks customers had their credit and debit cards compromised due to a security breach.

Customers of Commerce Bank should keep an eye on the mail. You're likely getting new debit cards, even if you didn't ask for one. Clayton-based Commerce Bancshares confirms that customers throughout the region are getting new cards as a precaution following a security breach at Schnucks grocery stores around the area that compromised customer financial data. Carl Bradbury, Commerce's Director of Consumer Products, wouldn't identify Schnucks by name in an interview Thursday but did acknowledge "a large event" where cards were considered compromised, prompting the move. The decision to re-issue does not mean that a customer's card was necessarily compromised, but that it was used during a time period where others were. Bradbury also said …

Obviously, we walk a fine line between reporting that a person has been charged with a crime when they are innocent until proven guilty. Nicole's reasoning is a big part of why we proceed in this manner. But we also have police investigators and the prosecuting attorney's office saying, yes, a crime occurred here and we believe the evidence says this is the person who did it. And that's exactly …   more ›

The city is considering a system that would allow people pay fees online, including tickets and court costs.

(For instant news updates follow Patch on Facebook and Twitter.) The City of Town and Country could soon accept payments of fees for traffic tickets, court costs and other related matters online. The matter will likely be before aldermen for a vote this month. City Financial Director Betty Cotner tells Patch, many other cities use an online system like this and said it would help the city collect more fees by making it easier for people to pay tickets. "Our court clerk is familiar with the sytem and is happy with it," Cotner recently told aldemen. "It costs us nothing. We get 100 percent of our charges." Aldermen could vote on entering into an agreement with TrafficPayment.com at the May 13 board of aldermen meeting. No word yet on when …
