Robbery Suspect Arrested, Caught on Police Dash Cam

A Town and Country 17-year-old is in custody after police say he tried to rob a woman taking a walk, then he fled police. The incident was caught on a police dash cam.

Town and Country police said Demetrie Javon Thomas, 17, of the 14300 block of Willowbend Park in Town and Country is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center on a $4,000 cash only bond.  The arrest is in connection to a May 16 incident where police were called to the 14200 block of Willowbend Park just after 11:30 p.m. for a disturbance. Police said a resident called 911 and told police that a male was assaulting a screaming female. Town and Country police Corporal Chris Moore arrived to find a male and a female on the sidewalk. Police stated that at the sight of the patrol car, the female began to wave her arms and the male immediately ran south across two parking lots. West County EMS and Fire Protection District has a new training facility and Fire Safety House for community and school tours. The building is not yet complete, but Town and Country - Manchester Patch got a sneak peek of the facility set to be finished in June.  Deputy Chief Jeff Sadtler tells Patch construction began in December 2010 and it's funded in part by the $19 million bond issue passed by voters. The cost is estimated at a total of $5 million for the construction of the Fire Safety House and training facility, plus additions to Fire House 2. The St. Louis County Police Department website updates its Most Wanted list as fugitives are apprehended. The list currently includes suspects wanted for child kidnapping, tampering with vehicles, robbery, forgery, felony domestic assault, armed criminal action, statutory rape, distributing and manufacturing controlled substances and resisting arrest. Town and Country Police: Fit to Serve

This week the Town and Country Police Department underwent its semi-annual fitness assessments.

Town and Country police officers put fitness to the test this week as part of the department's semi-annual fitness assessments. It's the twenty-first year for the program in Town and Country. "We use a screening process through Missouri Baptist Medical Center," Captain Gary Hoelzer tells Town and Country - Manchester Patch. Members of the police department complete a number of physical tasks as part of the assessment, including a 1.5 mile run at The Principia's track. "It's just one of the ways to encourage officers who are fit for duty," Hoelzer explained. "We're hoping this spreads throughout the St. Louis area." Officers also meet with a Missouri Baptist dietician, to review healthy eating habits and alternatives to quick meals such as …

BBB Warns Residents of Door-to-Door Scam

Young people are falsely posing as students of L’École Culinaire in an effort to get victims to buy phony magazine subscriptions, according to the Better Business Bureau.

The Better Business Bureau released the following alert Tuesday. St. Louis area residents should be alert for a new door-to-door magazine sales scam involving young people posing as students of L’École Culinaire, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) warns. A homeowner in the 5400 block of Pernod Avenue, in the city’s North Hampton neighborhood, said she was approached by a young man and a woman last week who asked her to buy magazine subscriptions to be sent to servicemen and women overseas. They told her that they were enrolled at the well-known culinary school in St. Louis County and were raising money to further their studies in Italy. The homeowner said she became suspicious when she asked the young woman for the name of the street where …

Windmill, Firehouse Improvement on Town and Country Agenda

Town and Country aldermen may vote on a new windmill coming to a local school, plus a discussion on fire crews moving out of the firehouse as improvements on the building get underway.

Town and Country aldermen have a packed agenda Monday night. A vote will likely come Monday night on a request by Covenant Presbyterian Church to build a 19 foot windmill on its property. According to church officials, the windmill will be a teaching tool for elementary students at Covenant Christian School, while providing water for the school’s garden. Concerns over safety and aesthetics were initially brought up by members of the city's Planning and Zoning Commission, however John Roberts, assistant pastor and head of school for Covenant Presbyterian said safety is the school's primary concern and it will make the necessary adjustments to ensure safety and that the windmill is within city standards. Thefts, Scam & Bizarre Break-In Top Manchester Crimes

Thefts, sweepstakes scam and a man with clipboard breaks into a Manchester home while a resident was sleeping.

The following information was supplied by the Manchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made. May 3: 600 block of Burwick Terrace Forgery: A resident received a letter stating he won $50,000 in sweepstakes, but first needed to send in $1,900 for alleged "taxes" on his winnings. The man did transfer the money and later realized it was a scam.  May 3: 800 block of Pheasant Woods Drive Stealing: A man reported his car was broken into.  He told police he thought his car was locked, but authorities found no signs of forced entry. Police: Former Parkway Student Likely Did Not Shoot Herself

Autopsy results show Ainsley Freeman and her mother, Amy Freeman Burton, were shot in the head. Both previously attended the Parkway School District.

Police said former Parkway School District student, 13-year-old Ainsley Freeman most likely did not shoot herself. Initial autopsy results show that Ainsley and her mom, 37-year-old Amy Freeman Burton, each died from one gunshot to the head. Although the official report is not yet available, and results are not yet conclusive, "evidence does suggest that Ainsley did not likely shoot herself," Lt. Jeff Bretzing said in a press release. Police ID Suspect Vehicle in Burglary Near Queeny Park

Authorities are searching for a gold 2001 - 2003 Saturn L200 sedan. Residents are warned to call police if they spot it.

The following information was supplied by the Town and Country Police Department. In an email alert, Town and Country police are warning residents to be on the watch for a gold 2001 - 2003 Saturn L200 sedan. The owner of this car is a suspect in the Mason Road burglary that happened Monday near Queeny Park. (Read Previous Story: Police Searching for Thief After Monday Home Burglary) According to police, a car matching this description was seen near the location of a burglary in a neighboring community.  Residents should watch for suspicious vehicles in their neighborhood. Anyone who spots a car matching this description is urged to call 911.
