The Senior PGA golf tournament comes to St. Louis and it will include road closures beginning next week. Route AB (Ladue Road) will be closed between Route 141 and Mason Road from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily from Tuesday, May 21 through Sunday, May 26. Mason Road will also be closed during these same hours and days from West Wailing to Ladue Road. The Missouri Department of Transportation will have lane closures on a few interstates this weekend. Two lanes will be closed on southbound I-170 at Route 180 (St. Charles Rock Road) at 9 p.m. Friday, May 17 to perform preventative maintenance on the I-170 bridge over Route 180. Vianney defeated Westminster Christian Academy for the Class 3 championship Friday night.
St. John Vianney High School is a state champion in volleyball for the 17th time, defeating Westminster Christian Academy for the Class 3 title Friday night. The Vianney Griffins won the championship in two sets, played at Maryville University. Westminster lost the first set 27-25, and the second 25-20, according to the school's Twitter feed. Westminster Wildcats wrapped up their season with a 22-7 record, bidding farewell to six seniors: Zack Lokey, Mitch Penning, Drew Pfyl, Daniel Pollman, Daniel Prada and Ian Sutherland. The Pirates head for a rematch with Hazelwood Central in the state soccer playoffs Tuesday.
In the games Pattonville High School's girls soccer team has lost this season, the team and the Pirates' head coach came to a conclusion. While it may sound cliche, they weren't coming out ready to play. "We all kind of sat down, we had a talk, that was one of the things we needed to fix, and looks like we fixed it," coach Tom Iffrig said Friday night, after Pattonville defeated Parkway Central 3-0 to take home the school's fifth straight district title. Hitting the field ready to play meant winning the first five minutes of the game and Pattonville did just that. Iffrig told his club afterward that the team was on fire.
