The Westboro protest photo was taken during an October 20, 2012 protest staged in Manchester’sRead More Paul A. Schroeder City Park. Supporters of Westboro Baptist Church were picketing a funeral protest ordinance passed by the City of Manchester’s Board of Aldermen several years earlier. Manchester’s funeral protest ordinance had just been upheld by the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. The news of Westboro’s legal defeat made news around the country and the City’s funeral protest ordinance quickly became the model for communities and cities around the country seeking to restrict the funeral protest activities of Westboro Baptist Church. This photo represents an historic turning point for communities and cities that, for years, had sought unsuccessfully to minimize the protest activities that often surrounded the burial of veterans.

So happy The City of Manchester took a stand against Westboro Church. Of all things they couldRead More protest...a funeral is the ABSOLUTE worst. If they were really God's people they would know better than to make a tragic, heartbreaking time even worse for family and friends of our fallen soldiers. Where do Westboro people think their Freedom comes from? So THANK YOU City of Manchester for showing the way for other communites/cities to rid themselves of Westboro crazies.
